WELCOME TO THE CIF SOUTHERN SECTION-FORD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
I congratulate each and every one of our student-athletes, coaches, administrations, and communities for this outstanding achievement. I thank all of you for your dedication and commitment to representing excellence on the playing fields, along with exemplifying the highest ideals of sportsmanship and character among our 564 member high schools in the CIF Southern Section. The CIF Southern Section was founded in 1913. Since our inception, we have always been, first and foremost, an educational institution dedicated to teaching young people valuable lessons they can utilize to make them better students now and better people for the future. We believe that the high school student who participates in athletics at their school will learn so many important values that will translate into success later in life. The ideals of teamwork, discipline, responsibility, perseverance through adversity and goal setting are all examples of important concepts taught to our young people through the outstanding leadership provided by our principals, athletic directors, and teacher/coaches. I look forward to the outstanding competition that is to come and seeing our young people pursue and realize their dreams. Let us all pledge to continue to support and celebrate them today, tomorrow and always. All the best,
Rob Wigod, Commissioner of Athletics

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS YEAR’S CIF SOUTHERN SECTION-FORD CHAMPIONSHIPS! Post season Championships in the CIF Southern Section are back on track and we are so excited to bring them to you!!! My most sincere congratulations to the schools, teams and players who have qualified and have the opportunity to continue in their sport for perhaps a few more weeks. It is an opportunity not to be taken for granted. A tremendous amount of hard work, determination, leadership, and sacrifice took place last year for the Southern Section to be in a position to organize and provide these Championships for our athletes this year. I ask that if you see any of the leadership or staff from the CIF Southern Section office at your playoff event, please take time to thank them for all they have done to make these playoff opportunities possible. Your participation in these championships is the result of hard work, dedication, and determination coupled with strong support from families, coaches and schools. Enjoy the moment, play your hardest, and have no regrets. Recognize how fortunate you are to be participating in playoff competition this year and do your best to cherish the experience. Good luck to each and every one of you. Once again, congratulations to all student-athletes taking part in the CIF Southern Section FORD Championships.

Roger Blake is the 8th Executive Director in the 107-year history of the State CIF, the governing body of high school sports in California. For the past 21 years, Roger has held numerous administrative position in the CIF prior to being selected to lead the organization in 2012. Prior to working full time for the CIF, he served for 24 years in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, sixteen years as a teacher, boys varsity basketball coach, athletic director and high school administrator before moving on to the district office. He has been honored with many awards over the years and he is in demand as a speaker appearing at over 40 trainings and seminars a year at various schools and conferences in California and across the United States. One of his professional highlights, during the height of the national steroid sandals, he was asked to appear in Washington D.C. where he spoke before a United States Senate Committee regarding steroids chaired by the late Senator John McCain of Arizona. He is actively involved supporting CIF and educational issues in Sacramento with the California legislature. He is a trainer for the Josephson Institute of Ethics and the CHARACTER COUNTS! program since 1999, primarily dealing with the “Pursuing Victory with Honor” initiative which is dedicated to restoring ethics and character back into high school sports. It is with great appreciation and gratitude that we honor Mr. Blake with the 2022 Ray Plutko Lifetime Achievement Award.
