Drawing visitors from around the world, the Historical Society takes you right into Madeira’s past. The society is located inside a Sears catalog home, with tours of the early 20th-century house being the main attraction. Inside, you’ll find everything from a 1950s television set to an oldfashioned sewing machine, and everything in between. Another one of the city’s historical highlights sits just 1,500 feet away: railroad tracks previously operated by the Marietta & Cincinnati Rail Road Company. —A.O.

Since its incorporation in 1910, Madeira has acquired many names. “The Friendly Town” has stuck the longest, but more recent titles include 2022’s best place to live in the Greater Cincinnati Area, and No. 3 best place to raise a family in all of Ohio, according to Niche.
