The Best Keep Getting Better The 2nd annual Best of the West event at Green Township’s beautiful Nathanael Greene Lodge & Reception Hall was once again a great celebration of all the wonderful businesses that make up the West Side. I truly enjoy seeing all the great businesses we have on the West Side, from those that have been around for generations to those that are just getting started. And what’s special about the Best of the West event is that there are always some “hidden gem” businesses that many have never heard about that stand out and make a tremendous impression on event-goers. The more than 400 attendees at the Best of the West celebrations have come to expect this eclectic mix of traditional and modern businesses and thanks to their votes we’re able to present you with this issue’s main feature: a look at our 61 winners, from Best Burger to Best Place to Have a Wedding. For those who have never attended Cincy Magazine’s Best of the West event I encourage you to check out our social media channels and make plans to join us in 2019 for another memorable evening. Fifty-five businesses from the West Side recently gathered in Green Township’s Nathanael Greene Lodge & Reception Hall to showcase their products, cuisine and services at Cincy Magazine’s 2nd annual Best of the West event. About 400 people attended the Sept. 27 party and sampled the fare before casting their vote for the best in 61 categories. We tallied those votes and are now proud to present this year’s winners. The Nathanael Greene Lodge & Reception Hall, Sunrise Treatment and Mount St. Joseph University sponsored this year’s Best of the West event and community partners included Green Township and the Western Economic Council. Healthy Moms & Babes was the event’s nonprofit partner and Bayley provided transportation. BY ERIC SPANGLER AND THE EDITORS 6

About the owner Michael Schroth, owner/president of Visiting Angels, Cincinnati West, was born and raised in the Cincinnati area and comes from a large family that emphasized the importance of giving back. Schroth graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a B.S. in psychology and then went on to complete his master’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky. He is also a certified dementia practitioner. Schroth has more than 30 years of experience in health and human services and has held numerous volunteer appointments in the community. His family has had to personally deal with the emotional struggles of caring for their mother with Alzheimer’s and the impact it has on the entire family. He also knows the challenges of coming to terms with aging parents and their diminishing health. All potential clients receive a free in-home consultation by Schroth. During the in-home visit, he will also do a complimentary fall risk assessment to help your loved one stay safe in their home. Each Visiting Angels agency is a franchise that is independently owned and operated.

BEST SPA DAY

A Touch of Heaven Salon Massage & Day Spa 6750 Hamilton Cleves Road, Miamitown, OH 45041

A Touch of Heaven is definitely true to its name. Offering valuable, affordable services that not only pampers the soul but also provides the necessary boost one’s wellness craves. “Within our ATOH family we are blessed to have so many nurturing, well diverse, experienced, educated and caring providers. Their dedication radiates with every passing day,” says Mindy Lovins, owner. “Our clients have showed their support through sharing their experience with others and loyalty with return visits. A Touch of Heaven has so many fantastic treatments to indulge oneself while in a comfortable, cozy atmosphere in the heart of quaint Miamitown, where you can get high-end services at a small-town price,” she says. “My family has supported me unconditionally as this business has developed,” says Lovins. “I am proud that many have walked beside me on my journey, even more so that my two daughters became massage therapist and are helping to set our roots deeper. “All of the above are the reasons why I believe A Touch of Heaven won the destination for Spa Day Best of the West 2018,” says Lovins.
