S E N I O R
season
Anna Kate In the past two weeks or so most everyone's lives have changed drastically in a way we never imagined or expected. While this time is hard on everyone, I believe it is hardest on both high school seniors and college seniors. Personally, my whole life, I have been looking forward to these last few weeks of high school and experiencing everything with all my friends. Now, sadly, most things are very blurry now and no one knows what's going to happen.
Thankfully my school is doing daily online school through zoom, so I get to see my friends everyday through that, but it isn't the same. I'm coping by leaning on God and my family during this time and trying to view this extra time with my family as a blessing before I go off to school. I encourage everyone to try and look for the positives even when they are so hard to find and to continue to lean on God.

Obviously this time has been tough because it is at a point where a bunch of things are coming to an end. Seniors have potentially already seen some of their friends for the last time and athletes have maybe played their last game ever. In order to cope I've just been understanding that I am not the only one going through this and that there are better days down the road. In terms of staying connected, social media and video games for many are keeping friends connected to one another. For other seniors just know that it will get better and to just give it time. I just want the community to continue support and be there for the seniors as they go through this time. Thank you and Go Dragons!--Collierville High School

I feel for everybody. Try to stay connected to everyone as much as possible by online, texting each other, snapchat, so we don't lose the time that we have left as a group.

It's scary to think that we may never get our senior prom, graduation, or to experience the end of senior year. When we left school before spring break, I would never imagined that we might not get to go back. I am coping by trying to focus on the positives ahead in my future and looking back on all the great memories I made this past year. I am also praying for everyone involved. I am staying connected through social media. My family watched church live this morning online. I'm glad we have the technology to see and hear from friends during this time. To my fellow seniors...let's follow the advice and instructions from the officials and get through this together!

This senior year had been great, but it has definitely had its downsides, too. As most are aware, the coronovirus has postponed schools nationwide from having classes. Students typically talked about how much they despise going to school, but it gives us something to look forward to everyday. Some seniors only see their friends in school and that's a reason why we can look forward to school. It takes most students thirteen years to walk across the stage and get their high school diploma. It is a life achievement to walk across that stage, so it is frustrating that we will not walk when expected. Prom is also an event seniors look forward to every year. It will likely be taken away from us as well. While it is frustrating, it is out of our control, so I try not to think about it too much.

It's crazy what curves God can throw at you when you least expect them. Senior year was supposed to be a breeze, nonstop fun, light at the end of the tunnel experience. Then the quarantine hit. Let's just say it nicked the wind out of me and a bunch of others I'm willing to bet. But it honestly shows me throughout this chaos how much I depend on people like my friends and family to get through so many things in my day-to-day life. It's disappointing, not being able to go about a normal day, but it's opened up many new viewpoints, prayers, and fun memories that wouldn't have happened without it. Stay vigilant, stay connected. We can get through this if we stick together, with a little healthy social distancing for good measure.

It stinks that I may have had my last day of senior year and not known it; otherwise, I would have cherished it more. Luckily, I can still talk to all of my friends on my phone and my computer. As for advice, I don't have much. Trying to figure this out like everyone else.

As a senior going through the coronovirus outbreak, it's definitely an experience. With college only months away, my main focus is to spend time with the friends we won't see everyday anymore. It's heartbreaking thinking our last prom might not happen, we might not get graduation, and we might not even go back to high school. The amount of uncertainty in a time like this is the worst part for me. Coping with this has created a lot of adjustments in my life. I usually see my friends literally everyday outside of school, and now I'm unable to leave the house. For me specifically, I've made it a goal to try at least one new thing everyday. I think this will build character in all of us seniors. Learn from it and make us better people. Now more than ever, I'm realizing I need to treat every day like it's my last because high school might be over for us, and we had no clue.

Senior year is something every person looks forward to. Everyone has to patiently waited their turn for 13 years to get to this point. When you are finally here, it feels magical. For these last few months, all eyes are on you, and you get to make the decision as a new young adult. You get to go out and enjoy all these special occasions. You get to be the captain of that team, and you get to go have the lights shine on you as you walk across that stage. For me it has been hard to say goodbye to lacrosse, sit in a classroom one last time, or joke with my best friend how bad the underclassmen are driving. If we go back, I will never take for granted another pop quiz or pep rally. I want to hear my name called on senior night, walk the halls for the parade of dragons, and put my cords on. I trust God. He has a plan for me. I know I will always be a dragon.

This is definitely not the ending to senior year I was expecting. Coming from someone who doesn't particularly like school, at first I was happy about school being cancelled. Then the talk of cancelling graduation, prom, senior picnic, and basically everything I was looking forward to as a senior, it was disappointing. I'm doing my best to stay connected with friends that I would normally see in school. Having technology that allows us to see each other and talk without being right next to each other is such a blessing. Our senior girls group chat is sending encouraging texts and coming together during this time. We all have questions, but we're taking it one day at a time. I ask the community to send an encouraging text if our events get cancelled and celebrate that we've made it through twelve tough years.

I am not coping well with the sudden adjustment of staying at home all the time. I have always loved school for the challenge and constantly seeing my friends and others every day. I am also a dancer and have not been able to go to my daily practices. This has been tough for me to be at home with close to nothing to do since I love having my daily routine. I am staying connected to close friends through texting or snap chatting. I want so badly to go back to school and finish out the last quarter, have prom, and celebrate with graduation. With the time we have with our families, seniors should make sure their relationships with family are how they wish to leave them with college coming up.

The unforeseen development at the conclusion of my K-12 education has brought a mix of emotions. As a student who has always liked school in some form or fashion, I'm disappointed that my classes are over and my friends taken away. I'm mostly staying connected through video games, a simple way for my friends and I to keep up with each other and keep everyone busy and enjoying life. Optimistically, view this break as a reprieve from the final quarter of difficult work, stress and demands. See it is a mental preparation for your next chapter of life. Many seniors were still struggling with difficult college decisions. Find a way to better yourself and strengthen your lifetime friendships before you leave for college and miss your friends more than you do now.

The end of my senior year has been kinda disappointing, even if we end up going back to school I feel like the relationships I had with all my classmates will never be the same. Yet I think the class of 2020 can take this as a lesson that life doesn't always go according to how we planned it. I'm really going to miss my class and hopefully we get another chance to say our goodbyes.

I'm not too worried. I've been fine, and it's been good to have a long break. I've not really been coping--just enjoying the long break and getting some extra hours at work. I'm staying connected via xbox live and discord with friends online. My advice to seniors is to chill at home and enjoy it. Everyone--just be safe and use common sense when out in public.
