Taylor-Whittle House Update: The moisture penetration mitigation has been completed to halt any further damage to the house. The cost for structural repairs was higher than budgeted, so the City of Norfolk is reviewing the assessment and budgets to determine the next steps.

COMMUNITY EDMARC On December 8, five members of the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Inc. (JLNVB), wrapped gifts at the Edmarc Hospice for Children in Portsmouth. Jessica L. Plank, the organization’s Community Resource Coordinator, explained that Edmarc provides home healthcare, support, and hospice for children with life-threatening illnesses. The Hospice receives referrals from CHKD, Portsmouth Naval Hospital, and individual families. For the holidays, Edmarc receives donations to “make memories” for the children they service. The donations are typically for an entire family (this ensures that all the children in the family receive gifts). Last year, JLNVB donated gifts for a family and volunteered their time. JLNVB’s Lily Hsu, Darcey Kennedy, Erikka Massie, Paige Mattson, and Jamie Stump wrapped a variety of gifts while listening to Christmas music playing throughout the house. As a special thank you to the JLNVB, Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee were provided by Edmarc. All of the ladies enjoyed themselves, and were glad to help out for such a worthy cause.

Members purchased food items and prepared a homemade dinner on-site for the families.
