Sergiy Kovalenkov: “Doctor Hemphouse” builder

Iwork on business development in different countries and also participate in developing new products.

What most interests you about hemp and hemp building and hemp growing and why?

Hemp is a fascinating plant which can provide humanity with thousands of products. What excites me is that almost anything can be made out of this agricultural crop. It’s a true lifesaver and I am happy to discover more new uses of hemp.

What was a win for your company in the past year?

We have signed on three big international projects in different continents of the world. We have received a grant for business development. Sergiy “Doctor Hemphouse” Kovalenkov, CEO / CTO Hempire USA, Civil Engineer, Hemp Builder.

What is something about hemp building/construction/processing you didn’t know a year ago?

I didn’t know that so many different companies are working on developing their own products. Also, I didn’t know that new materials and construction industry standards in the USA can be registered only once every few years.

What challenges does the hemp building industry face that it must overcome in the next five years?

Too much skepticism from the construction industry. Architects and builders sometimes don’t fully understand the entire potential of hemp-based products and therefore are afraid to use them. Costs of the materials and services are still too high, so the price has to come down to make a revolution.

Not enough biomass is available and not many hemp processing facilities are currently installed to cope with high demand and mass production/ construction.
