The conception of an emergency housing started from the desire of providing an universal shelter which could be adapted to different necessities of land, uses and types of families. Focusing on that, it was created independent modules of 3,00m x 4,40m, each one with its own solution of structure and dreinage system, but at the same possible to be placed side by side composing different sizes of houses. Thinking in extreme situations, the structure was designed to be delivered already done but bended, to optimize transportation, may it be by trucks or ships. Its dimentions also was though to fit in containers, making easier the logistic of storing and industrial standardisation.

The intention in this project was to bring the residential use to the neighbourhood of Bom Retiro, known as the apparel industryʼs heartland of São Paulo. The one purpose use of this district propitiates the violence and the emptying out of office hours. At the same time, the expensive cost of land, the intense trade and transit of people bring the necessity to verticalization and existance of some comercial areas. Furthermore, offer some free spaces to the nearby dense blocks and some services targeted to the shoppers, like restaurants and restrooms. All the housing units have a North side and arenʼt faced directly to the busiest way, José Paulinho Street, enhancing enviromental comfort and protecting dwellings to excessive noise.

The architectural program in this project was brough from brazilians SESCs, that are very successful centres of sports, culture and community activities, maintained by working class associations. The site given was near a high-traffic avenue in the neighbourhood of Butant達, an already consolidated area but where was going to receive a new metro station nearby. Thinking in providing an internal space that could be discovered just by pedestrians who walk through he block, but also without disturbing the main flow of pedestrians in direction to the metro station entry, it was designed a double building, sliced by an imaginary diagonal line and conected with a third volume. Its uses of swimming pool, sport courts, library, cafe, administration, multitask rooms, auditirium and restaurant were also distributed according to the volume, its public and its demands.

The design of a roof to a fair that tradicionaly occures at an early hour near two of the most popular commercial centres of S茫o Paulo, 25 de Mar莽o St. and Oriente St., involved rethinking not only a structure that could support a large shelter to the selling stands; but also make a reasonable plan that could create and promote an interchange between them. The existance of a train line crossing the project始s site was a plus and a challenge to this commercial complex. It was placed a new train station, but also, thinking in don始t disturb the flow of pedestrians, on the top of the low-floor administration building it was designed a walkway in levels, that softly goes down until cross the line under the trains. Environment-friendly systems were also included in the main structure. A water collection system and solar panels were planned to supply ordinary water and photovoltaic energy to light nights, when the fair has its highest activity.

The intention behind this wooden pallet house was creating an alternative solution for two different problems: the pallet disposal and popular housing. After a broad search of urban garbage and different reverse logistics used in many kinds of materials, it was detected that although there is a lot of planning on this, the disposal or oneuse pallets still is a common practice. Also, the use of pallets to facitate stacking and road or ship transportation is a widespread practicle in all world, as so as the dimensions they are manufactured. Then, it was proposed to use wooden pallets as an universal alternative material to construction. Focusing also in afterdisasters situations like floods or tornadoes, when there already are some material resources, but people still doesn始t have a decent housing. Analysing these restrictions imposed, the habitational modules were concepted to be built by their own, homeless people, using simple tools and non modified pallets. Also, once the most expensive and difficult to install systems are those related to cooking and bathing, we chose to not include them in the individual family始s unit. Instead, the modules can be combined in villas of four houses with a private common area, where they can share these resouces in a reasonable number of families. Furthermore, this common area can improve the cooperation between these four families, what can be very helpful in traumatic situations.

“The Waldorf pedagogy form, the traditional informs”. Rudolf Steiner It was with that though in mind that this school project was born. Beyond the traditional instalations of classrooms, library, sports courts, canteen, covered recreation area, teachersʼ room and staffroom, it was included at the architectonial program areas dedicated to develop the studentsʼ interest and abilities. Intended to improve imagination and teaching children historical human abilities, it was planned a sculpture and painting room, a dance room, an experimental kitchen, a carpentry room and a theater, that were placed in the more distant blocks and preferentially at low levels of building, to facilitate the communityʼs use during weekends.
