Happy New Year! Great meeting today - thanks for all your questions and thoughts, and announcements. Marypat got us the info on the Introduction to Floortime with Children and Adolescents with Developmental Delay, or Regulatory Disorders Basic at UCSD this weekend: Saturday 1/10/09 from 7:30 - 3:30. Contact Christy Higden at 858 964 1070. My colleague from LA Estie Hess PhD will be teaching this class. Cost is $160. As you may know I went to the east coast in December and visited with Dr Miller and Dr Grossberg in Boston, Bridget 'Becka' Palmer in Buffalo, and those DIR oriented schools in the NYC area: Imagine Academy - Brooklyn, NY The Rebecca School - Manhattan, NY Celebrate the Children - Dover, NJ Search their websites - very interesting. I'll be going to LA to look at programs there later this month (no actual schools) and also at that time formally starting work on organizing a regional DIR速/Floortime Institute for teaching and certification, a new sister to the slightly less new Atlanta region. It's all so exciting to me, anyway... Today we also spent time looking at me doing floortime with a girl, known from a while ago to many of the therapists here today, and presented with mom's permission of course - it was a great discussion and I am so glad to hear about the positive changes others are seeing in her ability to connect and respond. Next meetings will be Wednesday February 4, 2009 with professionals form 9-1030 am and parents/ caregivers from 1030-noon. I have an article in the upcoming issue of The Autism File on a case spanning preschool through high school. It comes out at the end of this month, and I will be doing a telconference with Chantal for mothersfightingautism, tentatively planned for 6-8pm on February 24th. We may have other media exposure coming up, and I'll let know if that happens too. There's so much more... we're working on the website revision, tutoring for professionals continues. The fun never stops! Hope to see you all next month. Dr Feder
