WELCOME to On behalf of the Local Arrangements Committee and the Northern Alberta Section, we are excited to welcome you here. As we raced towards the finish line of hosting this conference, we became increasingly impressed by the quality of the program, technical tours, and keynote speakers assembled for the event. We have structured our program around fostering community. Our hope is to share the great work that our community of transportation professionals in Edmonton and around the country are doing to shape and transform their communities. You will also find plenty of opportunities to connect with your colleagues, explore Edmonton, and get outside. Our collaboration with the Conference Board of Canada will give you a chance to stretch your imagination as we grapple with how our communities might be transformed by changing technology. We encourage you to walk through Fort Edmonton Park during our banquet and ponder how much our profession has impacted our cities to date and how it might change our future. We hope to leave you connected, challenged, and inspired.

EDMONTON The theme of the conference – fostering community – shines through a program showcasing perspectives on traditional transportation systems, emerging trends, and future technological advancements. The exciting technical program features plenary sessions and abstract-driven sessions that present the latest information on a wide range of transportation research. Complementing the presentations, unique technical tours are designed to stimulate discussions and enhance your experience.

WELCOME

It is a great pleasure to welcome you here in Edmonton to participate in the 2018 CITE Conference and Annual Meeting.

The social program includes many opportunities for you to experience the best that the City of Edmonton has to offer. Take the time to explore our fine host city and the many fabulous shopping and dining experiences around the corner from the conference. Remember to wear your favorite jersey when you come out to participate or cheer on your fellow CITE colleagues at our time honoured traditional hockey game. CITE’s networking opportunities provide attendees with a wealth of opportunities to share knowledge, insight, and experiences with transportation colleagues from across Canada and around the world. Make it a point to meet some new colleagues at the conference and turn them into rewarding friendships. I am looking forward to meeting you at what promises to be an exciting and memorable event!
