The majority of the children here have lost either one or both parents. Because of the high illiteracy rate, HIV/AIDS kills women and children in record numbers in African. Lawless areas with no security, the slums have countless unnecessary deaths, due to overwhelming violence. The poor sanitation in these areas makes mosquitoes carrying diseases like malaria and cholera very common. The cost of a net to catch these pests is less than $1 but only a few people can afford even that expense. Help save the poor children in Africa.

Life from the Eyes of Poverty Rodger Jacobs and his girlfriend Lela Michael had only lived in their North Vegas home for five months, but they had fallen behind on rent and faced an eviction hearing August 23 of last year. Jacobs, 51, a freelance writer who had had trouble finding work during the recession, rented the house his cousin owned and charged $1,050/month. Following the eviction hearing, the couple soon moved into an extended-stay hotel where they pay $200/week to save money.
