Barrie’s work for the Citizens Theatre includes Hamlet, No Mean City and Swing Hammer Swing. He has worked extensively in Scottish theatre with companies including Oran Mor, Theatre Babel, Borderline, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh and Visible Fictions. Recent theatre includes Singing Far Into The Night, Laurel & Hardy (Mull Theatre), Sunshine On Leith (Dundee Rep), Tutti Frutti (National Theatre of Scotland), Eeting Beauty (Tron), Die Fledermaus (Scottish Opera) and The Big Picnic (Shed Productions). Film and TV credits include Ken Loach’s The Angel’s Share, Fast Romance (Ickleflix), Still Game and Velvet Soup (BBC).

CAL MACANINCH | Robert Cal began his acting career at the Citizens Theatre and has played Hamlet, Oedipus Rex and Harry in Whistle In The Dark among others. Recent theatre credits include Hook in Peter Pan (NTS) and The Surgeon in Wee Andy (Oran Mor). Cal has worked extensively in TV and Film, most recently in hit TV drama Downton Abbey and films The Awakening (StudioCanal/BBC) and Screwed (Screwed Film).

NEVE MCINTOSH | Emma Neve’s theatre credits include King Lear (West Yorkshire Playhouse), The Lady from the Sea (Royal Exchange Theatre), Proof (Perth Theatre), Don Juan (Sheffield Crucible), Great Expectations, Victoria (Royal Shakespeare Company), Don Juan (Citizens Theatre) and The Merchant of Venice (Royal Lyceum Edinburgh). TV credits include Lip Service, Bodies, Single Father, Sea of Souls, The Accused (BBC), Miss Marple (ITV) and Low Winter Sun (Tiger Aspect/ C4). Film credits include Salvage (Hoax Films Ltd), Spring 1941 (Praxis Films) and The Be All and End All (Whatever Pictures).

HYWEL SIMONS | Jerry Hywel’s theatre credits include The Passion of Port Talbot (National Theatre of Wales), Red Bud (Royal Court Theatre), Money (Shunt Collective), The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (Northampton Theatres) Double Indemnity (Nottingham Playhouse) and Three Sisters (Mercury Theatre Colchester). TV credits include Casualty 1907, Hyperdrive, People Like Us, Little Britain (BBC), Heartbeat, The Flint Street Nativity (Yorkshire Television) and The Bill (Thames). Film credits include Enigma (Enigma Productions), Shakespeare in Love (Miramax), Wilde (Polygram) and House! (House Productions).

HAROLD PINTER - writer Harold Pinter was born in London in 1930. He lived with Antonia Fraser from 1975 until his death on Christmas Eve 2008. He wrote 29 plays including The Birthday Party, The Caretaker, The Homecoming and Betrayal, 21 screenplays including The Servant, The Go-Between, The French Lieutenant’s Woman and Sleuth. He directed 27 theatre productions, including James Joyce’s Exiles, David Mamet’s Oleanna, seven plays by Simon Gray and many of his own plays including his last, Celebration, paired with his first, The Room at The Almeida Theatre, London in the spring of 2000. In 2005 he received the Nobel Prize for Literature. Other awards include the Companion of Honour for services to Literature, the Legion D’Honneur, the Laurence Olivier Award and the Moliere D’Honneur for lifetime achievement. In 1999 he was made a Companion of Literature by the Royal Society of Literature. He received honorary degrees from seventeen universities. haroldpinter.org

welcome to the citizens theatre I very much hope you enjoy Betrayal, my first show as Artistic Director of this celebrated theatre. Since my arrival a few months ago I have been overwhelmed by the support, enthusiasm and love that people in Glasgow have shown towards this iconic organisation. I hope that we will maintain and develop its reputation as one of the country’s most important cultural institutions. We look forward to bringing you a programme of some of the greatest plays ever written, alongside new plays by the finest writers from Glasgow and beyond; as well as a programme of classes, workshops and performances that you can get involved with at the theatre or in the community. We will be working with some of the finest actors and theatre-makers in the UK to make your experience as memorable as possible, and with prices starting at 50p, I hope you will visit us again and again.
