ABOUT THE GORBALS VAMPIRE The Gorbals Vampire is a large-scale community theatre project run by the Citizens Theatre which explores a famous Glasgow myth through performance, comic art, creative writing and interviews. The Gorbals Vampire project ran from January to October 2016 and the project culminates this week in three performances at the Citizens Theatre. The performers on stage have been recruited from the local area or are participants in the many activities and groups run by Citizens Learning. In addition, a large number of people have taken part in the project by creating original comic art, writing short horror stories and sharing their memories of the extraordinary events that took place at Glasgow’s Southern Necropolis in 1954 that have inspired the project. Find out more about The Gorbals Vampire project by visiting our exhibition in the foyer. The performances of The Gorbals Vampire are dedicated to the memory of Patricia Preston, a longstanding member of the Citizens Community Collective.
