Friday, December 31, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Broomfield Auditorium All ages (12 and under with adult) Come for a family-friendly Japanese cultural celebration of the new year with interactive storytelling, song, and dance with the Japanese Arts Network. Learn about New Year cultural traditions and rituals, then ring in the "noon-year" with the Japanese shishimai lion, traditional folk dancing, and taiko drumming!

No registration or check-in! Enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, and activities together. At the end of the program, children and caregivers are invited to socialize and play.

Art Stop on the Go
Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade can build confidence and fluency by reading aloud to trained therapy dogs. Bring your own book or choose a library book and our dog friends will listen patiently.

Junior Book Club Age: 4th and 5th grade Wednesday, December 15 4 - 5 p.m. Register & pick up your book at the Children’s Desk up to one month in advance. Do you love to read? Meet with other kids to talk about a different book each month, enjoy snacks and have fun! Registration begins one month prior to the meeting date. Age: 6 - 12 Monthly on 2nd Saturday: Saturday, December 11 10 - 11 a.m. Sign in at the start of the program Kids will learn about the artist and artwork on display at the museum and listen to a children's book to inspire their own art project. No registration. Space may be limited. Presented by the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.
Audiobooks Are Awesome: Listening is Learning Check out: Playaway Audio, Audiobooks on CD, Books with CD (JCDX), and newly added audio options in our Junior Book Club Kits Research shows that all kids benefit from having stories read to them into high school. It builds vocabulary and develops comprehension skills which benefits writing too. Listening to audiobooks a form of reading! Listening while reading a book can also support readers with dyslexia and other reading challenges.
Try it: Read or listen to a book together as a family during the school break.
