NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH Neighborhood Watch…..it’s not just crime prevention anymore! Neighborhood Watch is a community network which enlists the active participation of residents in cooperation with public safety agencies to prepare for “all hazards” in their communities. It involves: ·Neighbors getting to know each other and working together in a program of mutual assistance. ·Getting to know your neighbors’ special skills (i.e. medical, technical) and who may need help in case of an emergency. ·Residents being trained to recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. Contact the Broomfield Police Department’s Public Education Coordinator to find out about a program for your area.
Talk to your neighbors to determine if there is interest.
Enlist your neighbors’ help.
Neighborhood Watch Signs: Neighborhood Watch signs are installed following the initial “Kick-Off” meeting. The exact number of signs and specific locations are determined by the Public Education Coordinator, and Street Operations in collaboration with the residents of each neighborhood.
Host a “Kick-Off” meeting.
Neighbors will need to identify a “Block Captain.” Duties of a Block Captain: ·Act as liaison between the police Block Captain Requirements: department and your neighbors.
