City Hall Remodel Update
Peters Construction has been working diligently on the City Hall Remodel project. The first phase includes the entire lower level and the upper level south side (Council Chambers). This phase is to be complete in September. Once phase 1 is complete, Inspection Services, Planning and Community Services, and Engineering will move into their permanent locations in the lower level. The Mayor, City Administrator, and a few other staff members will move into their offices on the upper level near the Council Chambers. Once all staff has been relocated, Peters Construction will begin work on the upper north portion of the building. This is to be complete in December 2022. The first phase work has been progressing nicely. All demolition work is complete. Peters Construction and their subcontractors are now hanging and finishing drywall, installing the new HVAC system, and preparing to install trim, cabinets, and doors. It is exciting to see the project come together. The vision Emergent Architecture and the City had is truly coming to life. We look forward to utilizing the space to better serve our citizens. A large main service counter and small meeting rooms will help City staff service the public with all permitting and licensing needs in one area. The counter will also be handicap accessible. Accessibility has been a very important part of this project. In addition to the main counter being accessible, the public areas for Council meetings have several improvements. The Council Dais will have two ramps leading up to the Council chairs. There will also be additional accessible public restrooms in the open common areas on both floors. This project will make City Hall much more citizen friendly. We look forward to opening these remodeled areas to the public when they are complete!
