Introduction Through God’s Gentleness: 1. Patience 2. Process 3. Progress Conclusion Main Scripture: Psalms 18:28-35: “ For

You will light my lamp; The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. 29 For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall. 30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. 31 For who is God, except the LORD ? And who is a rock, except our God? 32 It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. 3 3 He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. 3 4 He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 3 5 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great.”

Mark 1:16-20: “ 16 And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon

and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 1 8 They immediately left their nets and followed Him. 19 When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son o Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. 20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.”

Introduction: Pastor Dino Rizzo starts by telling us about the structure of his favorite cooking show, the Pioneer Women. He explains that it always starts with a very short begining just introducing the recipe and then a quick ending showing the finished product. The majority of the show is in the middle, it’s where the making and the process that happens. He goes on to explain, that it is so much like our lives with so much of occurring in the middle. It is the making , gathering and putting together that creates the stages of life. God is making us and He never stops making us. He enjoys “making” us.

Through God’s Gentleness God breaks down His power into such a small voltage for us, he makes it gentle. God uses his gentleness to make us. He uses His gentleness in three main ways we should be thankful for.

1. Patience It is not hard for God to be patient with you because He is making you. He knows you and knows if you lean into Him you will be okay.

2. Process God is taking us along on this journey. He understands we need steps and is okay with that. He is here to help us along this journey.

3. Progress As God is taking us along He uses his grace to correct those areas. He takes that opportunity to check in with our progress.

One thing that is so amazing about Jesus is that He lets us belong before we even believe. God will let us connect even when He is still correcting. God is making us as we are serving and connecting in the church and that is exactly what Jesus did with his disciples.

Conclusion: Pastor Dino closes with a story from the book of Acts. He explains how a guy named Eutychus falls asleep as Paul was preaching and then falls out of a window and dies. Paul then leaves his very long sermon speaks life back into Eutychus and goes right back to preaching. This story demonstrates the patience and making of God. God understands our mistakes. He knows where we are going and He knows what He is doing. It is in the middle where God is able to do the making.

Additional Scripture: Acts 20:9 “Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead.”

God is so good that He: Let’s us belong… before we even believe. Let’s us connect… before He corrects us. And Let’s us fish… before He’s “finished” with us.
