TYF Cheerleading – 2011 General Information Our goal is to develop recreational cheerleading squads that teach our children basic cheerleading skills and responsibility. This program is available to girls in 1st through 6th grades (2011/2012 school year). NOTE: We have a separate program for girls in K5. Registration Location: Depot (Parks & Recreation Office) Dates: May 23 – June 10 (weekdays only) 8 AM – 5 PM Final Day: June 11 (Sat.) 9 AM – 2 PM Fee: $160.00 (Nonresidents: Additional 10% ..... Multi Child Discount: 10%) (No Checks accepted – We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard)
Squads are divided by grade to coincide with the appropriate football team. The school grade for the Fall 2011 year will be used to assign girls to the squads. No exceptions can be made to assign cheerleaders to a different grade squad. If there are two football teams per age group, the cheer squads will also be divided so that there is a squad for each team. To determine the squads, we will divide the total number in half to determine squad size and then fill the squad according to the order that the registration forms were turned in at office. Cheerleaders will attend a “cheer clinic” to learn the basic dance and cheers that they will perform throughout the season. Squads will usually practice two days a week. The season will begin in September and end in November. Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. There will be four home games at Buck Creek and four away games. Coaches are needed for each squad. If you are interested in helping, please fill out an application and leave it at the Parks & Rec office. Dates to Remember: Uniform Sizing Date TBA. Specific dates and times for each group will be posted on our Web site, and emails will be sent out to notify you. We ask that each child wear a swimsuit to make sizing easier. It is very important that each child attend so that she can get sized for her uniform. We must get the uniforms ordered on time. Cheer Camp will be held in the evenings August 1st thru 5th from 68 pm at the THS gym. Your child will need to attend every night. The Thompson High School cheerleaders teach our girls cheers, chants, halftime dance and jumps. It is a fun, but busy week that will conclude on Friday, August 5th, when the girls will have a “Show off” night so that parents can see what they have accomplished. All girls must be signed in/out each day in order to provide a secure environment for your daughter. You will probably want to arrive earlier that 6:00, so we can complete the sign in process and still start camp on time.
