(No Checks accepted – We Accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard) Thompson High School Relationship

Thompson Youth Football has a strong working relationship with the coaching Staff at Thompson High School. The Thompson High School Coaches conduct Football Clinics for our Participants as well as our Coaches. We work hard to integrate all fundamental drills, techniques, uniforms, and conditioning into the youth program. These High School Coaches have had a real impact on our program over the last few years, and we look forward to working with them in the future. We will continue in 2011 to implement the THS offensive schemes into the Senior Division teams at the youth level. We feel that this adds real value for our youth to understand the scheme’s, techniques, and drills that they will encounter as they progress through the Thompson Football family. Equipment All players are issued the following equipment before the start of the season: Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Practice Pants, Game Pants, Game Jersey, and pads for football pants. Parents will need to purchase a 5 pocket girdle as TYF does not provide girdles or any extra padding that parents may deem necessary. This equipment must be turned in at designated times once the season ends. Failure to do so could have a direct impact on the participation in future City programs. The Parent/Guardian is responsible for the cost of the equipment and will be invoiced for any lost or damaged equipment. Practice & Season The season begins with practice starting in August and games beginning approximately the first week of September. The pre-season practice usually consists of 4 to 5 practices per week. Once games begin, the week usually consists of 3 to 4 practices and 1 game per week. Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. There will be no Saturday games. Each team will play 8 games (4 games at Buck Creek and 4 away games) with the possibility of making the playoffs and eventually playing in the championship game in November. Voluntary conditioning will take place the month of July. Parents/Players should be contacted by the Coach of their respective teams 2 weeks before the start of the season to discuss equipment hand out and mandatory parent meeting. During equipment hand out, only coaches and league officials are allowed in the equipment room since they have the knowledge to correctly fit players with football equipment. The equipment should fit snug for proper protection.

Team Splits: Jefferson Shelby Youth Football dictates that teams will be split when a division reaches 40 players. Alabaster Parks and Recreation will use that number for team splitting purposes. We do, however, reserve the right to change that number if we feel it’s necessary in the 70lb, 80lb, 90lb, and 105lb divisions. The 120lb and 130lb division will use that number for team splits. Once the decision to split teams is made, the following procedures will be used: Junior Divisions (70lb, 80lb, 90lb, and 105lb): The head coach and one assistant coach’s kid will be locked in on their respective teams. All other players will be drafted on a 1 for 1 basis. Senior Divisions (120lb, and 130lb):
