ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: High School diploma; some college or Associates Degree preferred; or six months to one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous customer service preferred. SUPERVISON – Work is performed under the supervision of the Patron Services Manager within established guidelines. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Customer Service position involves responsibility for performing various major clerical functions of circulation to include, but not limited to, checking materials in/out of the library, collecting fines and processing membership applications; as well as assisting patrons in use of library services and directing patrons to various subject areas. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Knowledge of and interest in books and literature. Ability to meet and communicate effectively with library patrons. Ability to keep records and prepare reports. Good computer skills, and willingness to learn new computer techniques; Windows skills preferred. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, and works well with diversified staff. Examples of physical demands are; standing for long periods of time, maneuvering a loaded book truck weighing at least 100 lbs, manual dexterity to move materials from outside book drop and from place to place in the library.
