Worldfest Brings out the Best
Popular Festival Sees Crowds Return
Food, drinks, music, dancing, and community – you could see that in every corner of this year’s Worldfest, with over 800 people in attendance. After no event in 2020 and a scaled back event in 2021 it was great to see the community return to Worldfest this year.
Worldfest continues to be a great way to celebrate Blaine’s growing cultural and ethnic diversity. It was an amazing day filled with performances, food, community building, cultural booths, and more. After 14 years of exploring and celebrating international customs, many are already looking forward to next year.
Mark your calendars for the 15th annual Worldfest on September 16, 2023. For more information, visit BlaineMN.gov/WorldFest.
Experience Blaine Citizens Academy
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to train like an actual Blaine Police Officer or an SBM Firefighter? With Blaine Citizens Academy you can see what it’s like firsthand. Accepted applicants were part of an eight-week course that is designed to give them a look into the inner workings of Blaine Safety Services. The goal of the program is to increase the participants knowledge of how local governments work and offer insight into the training and tasks completed by local law enforcement and fire officials. This course is free and open to anyone who lives or works in the City of Blaine. This year 17 students took part in Blaine Citizens Academy. The academy met every Wednesday evening for three hours at various locations around Blaine. Some of the session topics included: • Traffic Enforcement • Fire Investigations
