Promoting compliance with community standards is essential to these goals 6
COMMUNITY STANDARDS What tools do we have to achieve the City’s goals? Partnership of an Engaged Community, Committed Leadership, and Dedicated Staff Florida Statue 162, City Codes and Ordinances: Intent.—It is the intent to promote, protect, and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the counties and municipalities of this state by authorizing the creation of administrative boards with authority to impose administrative fines and other noncriminal penalties to provide an equitable, expeditious, effective, and inexpensive method of enforcing any codes and ordinances in force in counties and municipalities, where a pending or repeated violation continues to exist. 7
COMMUNITY STANDARDS What have we done? FY 2015/16
Fielded over 1,000 calls Opened over 2,000 cases Conducted over 8,000 inspections Complied over 2,000 cases before reaching fine certification All with a staff of four (4) Inspectors

COMMUNITY STANDARDS We are engaging our Community Partners Created Outreach Coordinator positions to provide Information and link the Community with City Services Established linkages with Non-profit Support Groups (Neighborhood, Churches, Habitat for Humanity, etc.) Linking with High Schools to create Volunteer hours for Students to earn Community Service Credit Creating Community Standards Volunteer Programs
• Selected applicants will undergo training and work with the City to act as Additional Eyes and Ears
