We are Bristol’s Further Education college, providing as wide a range of technical and professional education as possible across the city and beyond. Our Higher Education provision is a key part of this mission, and is designed to offer something distinctively different from a standard university experience. The quality of our HE offer is very good; year after year student feedback is very positive and we have achieved a rating of “Silver” under the Teaching Excellence Framework. We work closely with our key university partners – the University of Plymouth, Bath Spa University and the University of the West of England (UWE) – to ensure we meet the highest quality standards. So, what can you look forward to if you choose to study with us? Courses taught by specialist lecturers with good industry experience and expertise Strong links to professional sectors and good employer support Smaller teaching groups than is typical at university, enabling much more personalised student support A learning environment tailored to the needs of students with family and work responsibilities Specialist resources and support at each of our centres for university-level study.
One more thing, especially important during the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic: we are committed to providing as much face-to-face teaching as possible despite the current social-distancing restrictions. We have re-organised all our teaching rooms to make them Covid secure and introduced stringent health and safety procedures in all areas of our operation. You can expect to receive a blend of online and face-to-face teaching, but you will still benefit from an interactive learning experience and the opportunity to meet people and make new friends. So, have a good look at the courses we offer and I hope you make us your first choice for Higher Education.

Higher Education Prospectus - How City of Bristol College looks in a Covid-19 world
How City of Bristol College looks in a Covid-19 world Following the outbreak of Covid-19, also known as coronavirus, City of Bristol College has taken steps to make all of its centres a safe and enjoyable place to learn.
How have classes changed? We have reduced the number of people in our buildings at one time. To achieve this, most of your courses will include sessions taught at the college supported by online learning to help you reach your full potential. Workshops and classrooms have been altered to hold a small capacity of students. Protective screens have been put up in relevant areas and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is to be worn in customer-facing courses such as Hair and Beauty and Catering. We have also modified timetables and class sizes to spread footfall.
What steps have we taken to make our centres Covid-safe? To keep everyone safe, we are asking all staff and students to wear face coverings in communal areas (unless you are exempt on medical grounds). Communal areas include receptions, corridors and food halls. When you arrive at any of our centres, you will be asked to complete a temperature check in the reception area. If your temperature records 37 degrees or lower, you are fine to enter the building.
There are hand sanitiser points throughout each college centre. There will also be wipes in all classrooms and communal areas and we ask all students and staff to clean down their tables when they depart the room. In food halls we have made purchasing your food easier and safer with our Click and Collect service. You can now order from your phone and then arrange a time to collect your meal from the food hall.
cityofbristol.ac.uk
For more information and Frequently Asked Questions about our Covid-safe centres and your learning experience, please visit www.cityofbristol.ac.uk/coronavirus-information
Throughout your time at any of our centres, we ask you to respect the social distancing and one-way system throughout the centre and, wherever possible, arrive alone. At all of our centres, we have introduced intensive cleaning regimes and have made changes to all of our bathroom facilities to allow for social distancing – with smaller washrooms only allowing a one-in, one-out policy.
What to do if I get ill? Please do not visit us if: You have any symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new continuous cough, changes to your sense of smell or taste). Are awaiting a COVID-19 test. Have tested positive for coronavirus. You live with someone or have come into contact with someone who has had symptoms.

Big up Bristol
Bristol has a lot to offer. Bright lights and late nights are surrounded by green hills, rolling rivers and beautiful countryside. It’s a cultural centre in its own right, and also somehow close to everywhere – from London to Land’s End, you’re never that far away in Bristol. Voted for by the people In 2017, Bristol was crowned the best place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times and has now topped the list for the happiest city in Britain in 2019. Described as ‘a small city which feels like a big city’ it was praised for being ‘handily placed for seaside and scenery’. Since receiving the award, Bristol has gone from strength to strength with high employment levels, having a range of independent and chain shops as well as being a cultural hub. Bristol has an energetic and vibrant sports scene across many diverse communities. Boasting two football clubs – Bristol City and Bristol Rovers – a Gallagher Premiership rugby club, Bristol Bears, as well as a number of hockey, netball and tennis leagues to boot, it is no wonder the city was awarded the title of UK’s European City of Sport in 2017. A wealth of employers Bristol is a hub for major industries such as engineering, health, creative and digital. There are plenty of career opportunities with employers such as Rolls Royce, NHS, Brunelcare, St Monica Trust, Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Channel 4 Hub, ITV West Country Bristol 247 and Mammal Create, to name but a few!
A city of culture Banksy is known and loved by the world and many of his works can be found around Bristol and the surrounding area – with his famous Dismaland being held a stone’s throw away in Weston-super-Mare. But there is a lot more to Bristol’s graffiti and street art scene – from the side of buildings to inside galleries, you will find fresh and innovative masterpieces designed to inspire and provoke thought. The grass really is greener Chosen as the European Green Capital for 2015, Bristol stood out as the clear winner thanks to its commitment to environmental improvement and sustainable development. It is now seen as a source of inspiration for other European cities to promote best environmental practices. Best buy From the wonderful independent shops of Gloucester Road to the exclusive boutiques of Clifton, there are a number of local and chain businesses to get your school supplies or trendy outfit from.
