BURLESON PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

December Coming off a record-breaking year, the Burleson Public Library reached new heights in 2024, welcoming more than 208,000 visitors and program attendees. Now, the library has been recognized for its outstanding service with the 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA), an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League.

Of the 542 public libraries in Texas, only 102 received this prestigious honor in 2024, placing the Burleson Public Library among the top 19 percent in the state. This recognition highlights the library’s dedication to providing impactful programs and services, including: inclusive storytime; Reading

Rover, the library’s mobile programming van; student art receptions; Our Texas, Our Future Film Series and Library of Things. This recognition reflects the library’s commitment to exceptional service, innovation and community engagement.

CITY RELEASES 2024 ANNUAL REPORT

The city of Burleson has released its 2024 Annual Report. The report includes top accomplishments of the organization from the past year and goals for the upcoming year. The city continues to focus on improving business processes, identifying cost containment strategies and delivering many capital projects. View the report: www.burlesontx.com/annualreport

SUMMER FUN CAMP: REGISTRATION OPEN

Summer Fun Camp begins May 27 at the Burleson Recreation Center (BRiCk) and will run each week through Aug. 8. The program is open for campers from ages 6-12 years old. Camp activities include arts and crafts, science projects, field trips, guest speakers, gym activities, swimming and outdoor nature walks.

Parents can select which weeks the child attends or they can attend the entire summer. The camps fill up quickly; scan the QR code for more information or to register.

The Burleson Animal Shelter has a variety of cats and dogs looking for their forever homes. The shelter is located at 775 SE John Jones Drive. Operating hours are Tuesdays - Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

SIGN UP FOR SAVE A LIFE SATURDAY

This free workshop provides the knowledge and skills required for effective response to threats, how to recognize and control life-threatening bleeding and how to perform Hands-Only CPR/AED use.

Hands-Only CPR training is quick, easy, and lifesaving. A person as young as nine can learn to perform chest compressions, potentially helping a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival.

Classes are held the second Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m., Fire Station 16, 250 E Hidden Creek Parkway. They are open to all ages.
