Cottage Grove is Hiring Seasonal Employees Applications are being accepted for: • Six-month full-time positions in parks and utilities maintenance • Three-month full-time positions in parks and streets maintenance • Three month internships in landscape and forestry • Wages range from $10 to $13 per hour depending on the job and qualifications • Minimum requirements: • At least18 years of age • High school diploma, and • Valid driver’s license Applications accepted until the positions are filled with the first review of applicants on March 3. The photographers were presented with a certificate and $50 for each winning photograph. The photographs will be displayed at City Hall and used in print and electronic media to showcase the city.

Highway 95/Manning Avenue Construction Open House on March 2 MnDOT is hosting an open house for you to learn about the Highway 95/Manning Avenue safety improvement construction projects.

At the open house you can find out about project staging, traffic impacts and detours. There will be no formal presentation.

In the spring of 2018, MnDOT is planning Date: Time: construction on Highway 95/Manning Location: Avenue between Bailey Road/County Road 18 and County Highway 22/70th Street. The work will include widening shoulders, adding turn lanes, resurfacing roadway and updating drainage.

Ravine Regional Park to Close March 1

COUNTY HIGHWAY 19 AND COTTAGE GROVE RAVINE PARK IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

Washington County is working with the City on proposed improvements to County Highway 19 and East Point Douglas Road. As part of the project, the park road for the Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park will be reconstructed including a new entrance off of County Highway 19 and improved outlet for Ravine Lake.

County Highway 22/70th Street Corridor Construction CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN SPRING 2017

Washington County, in coordination with the City, is planning a series of roadway improvements along the County Highway 22/70th Street Corridor.

Washington County has set up a website that is intended to be a “one stop shop” where you can find information about the various existing and upcoming projects along the corridor. To view a timeline map and sign up for email updates visit

The 2017 project will include the area from the east ramp of the U.S. Highway www.countyhighway22.com/ 61/10 interchange to Hinton Avenue. Improvements will include additional right and left turn lanes, trail/pedestrian facility improvements, and shoulder improvements.

The owners of Afton Apple Orchard presented a $5,321 check to the Cottage Grove Public Safety Board. This donation will be used for public education by the Cottage Grove Fire and Police Departments. The funds were raised during Afton Apple Orchard’s “Thank Your Local Hero” corn maze events in October 2016.

Woodridge Park Inclusive Playground Now 78 Percent Funded The Inclusive Playground at Woodridge Park is closer to its funding goal after donations totaling $56,000 were received at the Jan. 18 City Council meeting. Western Refining and SuperAmerica donated $25,000, Stantec Consulting donated $6,000, the Cottage Grove Lions Club donated $10,000, and the St. Paul Park Newport Lions Club donated $15,000. The $750,000 project is now 78 percent funded. With current funding levels construction for the playground could begin this year, but it would have to be built in phases as funding is received.

Ice Skating Lessons

Our Learn-to-Skate program prepares participants for all ice sports. Students are individually evaluated to make certain they are in the appropriate level. Please come prepared with: sharpened, leather, single blade hockey or figure skates; warm and comfortable clothing including mittens; and a bike/hockey helmet if skater is age 5 or younger. Dates: Mondays, Feb. 13 to April 10; or Saturdays, Feb. 18 to April 15 Cost: $72
