Deaf and hard of hearing children, along with their families, are invited to spend time with a Santa who understands sign language! Santa only communicates using sign language but an interpreter will be on-site to help translate for friends and family.

If you’ve always wanted to receive a special visit from Santa Claus, you’re in luck! Santa Claus and his elf have decided to take a break from their work at the North Pole and visit the beautiful City of Cupertino. For children 12 and under, this event will be truly magical! Santa’s time is limited and he can only spend 15 minutes at each location. Make sure to have your camera and family ready to participate in this joyous occasion.

Basic Blacksmithing for Beginners 18Y+

This beginning class assumes no previous knowledge of metalworking, but any shop experience will be helpful. Class starts with basic safety, fire management, and hammering techniques. Next, you will learn tapering, bending, and shaping while also being introduced to more advanced methods. Finally, you will use these techniques to make your own item, such as a hook or keychain. This class provides a brief but compelling introduction to the blacksmithing world and prepares you for the next level, Intermediate Blacksmithing with Focus on Projects. Wednesday, January 8, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Some Like it Hot! returns to Orpheum Theater and claimed as the "super-sized, all-out-song-and-dance spectacular!" by the New York Times. Immerse your self in the lively production, unforgettable music, stunning costumes, and the robust theatrical "razzle and dazzle" of the most Tony Award winning musical of the season! Set in Chicago during the Prohibition, follow the story of two musicians forced out of the Windy City by gangsters after witnessing a mob hit. Trying to evade at every turn, the pair of musicians catch a cross-country train for a life-changing trip of a lifetime. Before the show, enjoy a delicious hosted lunch at Tad's Steakhouse in San Francisco.

Beach Chalet and Mary Cassatt at the Legion of Honor

Experience a delightful day of art and beauty in San Francisco. Relax over a delectable brunch with sweeping views of the Pacific at The Beach Chalet restaurant across from Ocean Beach. Spend the afternoon immersed in priceless art at the stunning Legion of Honor Museum, home to works by Monet, Rodin, Rembrandt, Ansel Adams and more. Your visit includes timed entry to the special exhibit of Mary Cassatt, a celebrated member of the French impressionists, and the first major showing of the artist in 25 years.

Steinbeck House and Center

Thursday, February 6, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Visit the historic Steinbeck House, birthplace and boyhood home to Nobel prize winning author John Steinbeck, a restored Queen Ann style Victorian built in 1897 with original decorations, furnishings, family pictures and memorabilia. This literary landmark houses a charming restaurant, where we will enjoy a docent talk as well as gourmet lunch, prepared by the women of the Valley Guild, showcasing seasonal produce of the Salinas Valley.

Explore the National Steinbeck Center, with a private docent tour to explore Steinbeck's world through multi-sensory exhibits, rare artifacts, and seven themed theatres showcasing East of Eden, Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, Grapes of Wrath, and more.

California Academy of Science

Caregiver Network Counseling

The Caregivers Network provides friend or family caregivers free support for their unique situations. A Care Manager will be available for one-hour in-person appointments to provide resources and information for caregivers to support loved one.

December 17, January 21, February 18, and March 18

Caregiving is tough and you do not have to do it alone. Join other friend and family caregivers to learn about resources, share experiences, and enjoy a social outlet. Lead by the Caregiver Network of Sourcewise, a Santa Clara County resource agency for seniors, the group is for caregivers of adults 60 and older or someone of any age with a dementia type disease (Huntington’s, early onset Alzheimer’s traumatic brain injury, etc.).

Activity Withdrawals

Withdraws must be requested in writing or in-person at least eight calendar days prior to the start of the activity for a full refund.

1-day Classes/Events

Refunds must be requested in writing at least eight calendar days prior to the start of the 1-day class/event.

Activity Cancellations

Activity not reaching required minimum enrollment may be canceled. Participants are notified by phone and given option to transfer to another activity or get a full refund.

50+ Travel

Individual cancellations must be filled from the waitlist before a refund can be issued. For individual cancellations, an administration fee of $10 will be assessed, and the remaining balance will be refunded. A full refund will be issued if a trip is canceled by the Senior Center.

50+ Luncheons

Separate Policies

There are no refunds for Drop-In or Day Passes. Separate policies apply to Preschool and Sports Center Memberships. Please inquire before registering.

Refund Request

Requests must be submitted in writing and must include participant’s name, address, phone number, name and activity number of the class, and reason for withdrawal. Original payments made by credit card are refunded to the credit card and may take up to two weeks to process. Payments made by check or cash are refunded by check and may take up to six weeks to process.

Resident Fee

Activity participants living in Cupertino zip code 95014 are eligible for a resident discount rate. Proof of residency may be requested.

Waitlists

If the class you requested is filled, you may be placed on a waitlist, free of charge. If the class becomes available, we will call you. Payment is due within 24 hours.

Age Requirement

Where an age is indicated, the participant must be that age by the first day of class. Proof of age may be required.

Class Attendance

Class attendance is limited to the registered participants only. Sorry, no children in adult classes and no adults in children's classes.

Make-up Classes

There are no make-ups for classes you don’t attend. On occasion, a class/activity will be canceled due to weather, instructor availability, or unforeseen emergencies.

If Cupertino Parks and Recreation cancels a class meeting, a refund will be issued, or a make-up class will be offered if the schedule permits.

Class Check-in/Check-out

All children 0-14 years of age must be checked in and out of classes and activities by a parent or guardian. Please come into the classroom and see the instructor to check your child in and out.

Declined Credit Card

If your credit card is declined, Cupertino Parks and Recreation staff will contact you to request payment. If your payment is not received within 24 hours, your registration will be canceled.

Returned Check

There will be a service fee for each returned check.

Paying with Cash

Exact amount required for cash payment.

Scholarships

Limited scholarship grants are available for youth recreation programs and classes. Our scholarships program is administered by the West Valley Community Services. To apply, contact WVCS or call (408) 255-8033 for more information.

Must be a Cupertino resident or attending a school within the CUSD.
