Each program is meant to teach engineering concepts, robotics and entrepreneurship skills. RoboThink uses curricula designed to meet every skill level, so no prior experience is necessary. Engineering Tanks In this program, students will be building several different types of tanks for battles, challenges, races, target practice and more! Foundational Engineering: Machines & Contraptions Does your little learner love to tinker and create new things, or are they the kind of learner who likes to break things apart to see what’s inside? If so, they are going to love this class. This program gives your student the tools they need to understand mechanical movement and the importance of simple machines. They will see these moving parts up-close as they follow instructions to build various machines and contraptions, then use the models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts and even play games with their partners and classmates. Whether they are the creative-constructive type or prefer the inquisitivede-constructive way of learning, this program is sure to spark their engineering interests! Age: 5-8 yrs. ROBERT CROWN AFTER SCHOOL ADVENTURE GENERAL INFORMATION Robert Crown Center’s after-school program is licensed by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). Our daily schedule, from 3-6pm, includes time to relax and play in both structured and self-directed arts and crafts, coordinated study time and nutritious snacks. Activities designated to build athletic and social skills take place in our gym, multi-purpose room, and outdoor space. The most important part of the day is “Homework Help,” which provides individualized enrichment and assistance. The program includes special activities and theme days or field trips on early dismissal days and school improvement day. * Full day care is provided on days District 65 holds non-attendance days/institute days outside of COE Holidays.
Registration Information Registration process includes a tour with the program supervisor, sharing information on class schedules, content, curriculum, assessment and program fees. You will be given the registration packet and the parent handbook. Intermediate Engineers In Snapology’s Intermediate Engineers program, children will build super-cool models that use gears, axles and levers. Students will work in teams under guided instruction to build a different model each week. During most weeks, the children will also have additional time to participate in creative building. FLEETWOOD-JOURDAIN This program serves your after school needs and school closings, half-days, winter break and spring break for elementary and middle school students. Students are grouped by grade and will receive structured recreational, supervised computer access, nutritious snacks, arts & crafts and more. Bus services will be available for students attending District 65 schools only. Participants and staff will wear masks at all times. Location: Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center Age: 5-13 yrs.
