Registering your child for the appropriate class is the first step to ensuring success and fun with gymnastics. Our beginning classes are for children who have never taken a gymnastics class or who have taken a class for less than one year. Certain skills are necessary before taking the Advanced Beginning, Intermediate and Pre-Team classes. If your child has not mastered these skills, he or she will not be able to learn more advanced skills. Your child would then have to switch to a lower level class. Therefore, if your child has taken one year or more of gymnastics lessons and you are unsure if he or she should be in the Advanced Beginning or Intermediate class, please call Michelle at 847-448-8681 to discuss class placement. Private and group gymnastic lessons are also available for those interested in individualized attention or for those who are aged-out of certain levels. For more information, call ChandlerNewberger at 847-448-8252.

Mission Possible: Chicago’s Free South Africa Movement a film presented by Ava Thompson Greenwell, film producer/director This new film traces the birth, growth and maturation of the anti-apartheid movement in Chicago from 1980–1994. Chicago activists played a major role in putting pressure on the South African government to end apartheid. Men and women worked together to organize educational forums, fundraisers, boycotts and demonstrations and helped get legislation passed that forced Illinois agencies to divest from companies doing business with South Africa. Their work was so impactful that in 1993, Nelson Mandela came to Chicago to thank labor, academic, religious and community leaders for their help. Mission Possible documents the Chicago connection that led to the release of Mandela and ultimately the first free elections for black South Africans. See a sneak preview of the film and hear from Ava Thompson Greenwell about its origins. Please register at the Levy Center front desk or by calling 847-448-8293.
