Have you got a plan for when a bushfire comes close to your home, or the next cyclone or heatwave hits the City?
Just as importantly, do you have a plan on how you are going to recover from these events?
The City of Greater Geraldton is updating its emergency response plans and wants to hear from community members about how they plan for and recover from emergencies and disasters.
Mayor Jerry Clune said understanding how well the community is prepared is critical to building resilience.
“Effective emergency planning contributes to reducing the likelihood and consequences of emergencies for individuals and the broader community,” he said.
“Understanding how well the community is prepared for these events will enable the City to tailor its response plans and allocate resources where they will be needed most to ensure community safety.”
“Whether you have a plan in place to prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters on not, I encourage residents to share this critically important information with the City by taking the Household Emergency Preparation Survey.”
Community members who take the survey can go into the draw to win a first aid kit.

Paper copies of the survey are also available at the Civic Centre, the QEII Seniors and Community Centre and the Mullewa District Office.
The survey closes at 9:00am on Monday 2 September 2024.
