Travel to a conference to increase staff knowledge of immunization education to increase immunization rates and protect Independence residents.

IHAS traveled to the in person conference to gain knowledge about vaccination rates and evidence based practices for increasing vaccination rates in Missouri.

IHAS staff learned about trends in vaccine uptake and public attitudes towards vaccinations. Staff gained knowledge on evidence based techniques for increasing vaccination uptake.

APPA Engineering and Operations conference with sessions on Public Power Environmental and Safety issues.

APPA E/O conference with sessions on environmental issues in public utilities. Sessions besides environmental issues were also on power generation and future of public utilities. Awarded the APPA safety award on behalf of IPL.

Able to network with similar public utilities to benchmark how we handle environmental issues. Meet with EPA reps who spoke at the conf. Gain ideas on sampling and CCR closures. Permitting issues with new generation and closure of generation.

General comments:

A very good conference and beneficial for me because I have never attended before. I started right before COVID and have not had the opportunities to attend national conferences for IPL. Met good contacts and able to meet the players at APPA and other utilities.

Purpose

This visit is to tour our Oneta plant and discuss our current contract and options for future. Will take an IPL pool vehicle, so transportation costs is purely fuel purchases.

This trip was to tour the plant the city currently has a capacity agreement with. Also, to discuss our current contract, possibility of extending and or expanding our current contract.

Got to see the physical condition of the plant and talk with plant leadership about the operations and maintenance. Discussed with business leadership contract specifics.

General comments:

Was good to view the plant and meet leadership. Anyone in city leadership is welcome to come view as well.

Received information regarding similar projects underway at IPL and gained insight and knowledge of efficiencies to improve performance for IPL.

Found through presentations and personal discussions the status of how IPL technology use compares to others throughout the U.S.

I found the trainings offered encouraging and added validity to the training I give here at IP&L proving that what I do is on par with the National requirements and energizes me in my continuing efforts to protect both the City and staff from injury and incidents.
