Join our trail guides as they lead a moonlit stroll through the woods and across the prairie. We may hear some bumps in the night, but have no fear...it’s probably just an armadillo. Howling coyotes, hooting owls, and other nocturnal sounds will provide an out-of-the-ordinary hiking experience. Join Texas Parks and Wildlife Certified Angler Educators and learn how to prepare a rod, bait a hook, and casting techniques. Nature Walk
Animal tracks, deer trails, singing birds, trees with personality – we never know what we’ll find on our monthly nature walk! This family-friendly hike will last about two hours.

This FREE guided nature walk for members of the Special Needs community will take place along the wide and level crushed-granite surface of the Cottonwood trail. We may see signs of deer, coyote, or bobcat, and maybe even see an armadillo during this mile long hike! No reservations required. Day: 3rd Saturdays; starting in Sept. Camping is as easy as ABC 123. Don’t believe us? Spend a night out at LLELA with our guidance and our gear. We’ll teach you the basics from setting up your tent to preparing dinner over an open flame! Camping site, Camping gear (tent and sleeping pad), Cookware, and firewood will be provided. There is no electricity available at the campgrounds but we will help you prepare accordingly.

#OptOutside Black Friday Midnight Hike
“Every day is better when you #OptOutside.” Skip the department store lines and hike with us instead! In 2015, REI made a game changing decision to close its doors on Black Friday in order to spend that time doing what they love: exploring our greenspaces. #OptOutside and join us for a midnight moonlit hike through your favorite urban wilderness, LLELA! Toddler Nature Time
In this Fall nature exploration program for toddlers, join us weekly for storytime and a guided hike through your favorite urban wilderness. Don’t worry about the rain, we have indoor space where we play too! We encourage you to bring along a snack or lunch to enjoy on your own after the program. Day: 3rd Wednesdays Sept.-Nov. Join us for a tour of prime birding locations throughout LLELA and get tips from the experts on becoming a better birder. Birders of all skill levels are welcome.

Nature Journaling
Join us for a beginners class where we will discuss the elements of a journal and how to practice mindfulness in nature so that you can begin recording observations of your own. Bring your own notebook or journal or purchase a spiral kraft journal for an additional $5.

Guided Kayak Tour
Drift under willows, float past reeds and cattails, and see what wildlife we encounter on the Beaver Pond at LLELA. It is a haven for wildlife, including turtles, frogs, fish, beavers, and many other species. All skill levels are welcome and all equipment is provided. Event dependent on water levels.
