Level 1 Leisure Pool
powered by Group swim lessons are for children 3 to 17 years old. Adults interested in swim lessons are invited to register for adult group, private, or semi-private lessons. All lessons are held in the Leisure Pool unless otherwise noted.
Registration Deadline Please register your child by April 11. We regret that we may be unable to adjust schedules to accommodate late registrations.
Infant Water Safety The goal of this private, one-on-one lesson is to promote a positive response to the water environment and teach your 6- to 24-month old baby to float on his or her back and get a breath of air. The emphasis is on water adaptation and training children to react in a constructive manner should they find themselves in water accidentally. A coach will work with your child in the water.
Prerequisite: Three years old and comfortable in the group class setting without a parent. Working with the coach, your child will learn to put his or her face in the water and blow bubbles. Students will advance to the next level when they can do ten relaxed bobs. To participate in this class, your child must be comfortable in the group class setting without a parent. If you register and the first class is difficult, we will transfer your enrollment to a Mason Swim Academy Level 1 w/Parent class. Activity number: 352321 Fee (PRE/BAS/MR/NR): $51 /$60 /$75 /$90
Not Sure What Level? New swimmers or swimmers how have not taken lessons for the past two sessions: Please call 513.229.8555, extension 5510 to make an appointment for a free evaluation and placement session before registering. All new swimmers must participate in a free evaluation and placement session before registering above Level 1.
Level 2 Leisure Pool
PLEASE NOTE: Completion of this class does not mean your child is water-safe. Adult supervision is still required whenever your child is around water. Completing this class may, however, provide you with some extra moments should an accident occur.
Prerequisite: Have a Mason Swim Academy Level 1 certificate or have the ability to do ten relaxed bobs while blowing bubbles with the mouth and nose. Your child will learn to glide on front and back in a streamline position. Students will advance when they can push off the wall and glide on their front and back for five seconds in a streamline position.
Fee (PRE/BAS/MR/NR): $90 /$106 /$131 /$156 Please call 513.229.8555, extension 5510 to schedule your class.

If a swimmer desires to be on a swim team like the Manta Rays Swim Team at Mason Community Center, SwimFit will provide a smooth transition.

Mason Water Moccasins Swim Team Lou Eves Municipal Pool • May 27 – July 28 The Mason Water Moccasins is a competitive summer swim team in the Tri-County Swim League. The team practices at the outdoor Lou Eves Municipal Pool. Participants will improve upon the four competitive swim strokes along with starts and turns, learn what it’s like to work as a member of a team, and learn the importance of sportsmanship.
New Participants A try-out is required for all new prospective swimmers. Tryouts for any swimmer who was not on the 2013 Mason Water Moccasins Team will be held on Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the competition pool at Mason Community Center. Swimmers are required to attend only one of these sessions. Families of swimmers who make the 2014 Mason Water Moccasins team will be notified via email by April 27. To try out for the Water Moccasins swim team, it is recommended that children ages 4 to 8 are currently in or assessed at Level 4; children ages 9 and up should be currently in or assessed at Level 5/6. We encourage children who do not possess these skills to enroll in the Mason Swim Academy to develop the skills and endurance needed to participate in a future Water Moccasins season. Young Rembrandts Drawing Classes
®
Activity Room B
Dramakinetics is an abilities inclusive performing arts program that uses drama, music, and movement to foster independence, creative thinking skills, and empowerment. As an educational tool, Dramakinetics is used to learn social skills, to make connection to real life, and to align the arts with academic content and the 21st Century learning standards. We keep the “fun” in function when it comes to learning and maintaining developmental skills.
Young Rembrandts focuses on teaching children to draw using demonstration and a structured step-by-step process. This method of directed drawing gives students instruction on how to draw increasingly complex images at a crucial time in their development. Through the process of weekly instruction, students are exposed to a wide variety of subject matter, artistic concept, art history, and mastery of their materials.

Tennis programs are provided for juniors and adults. Junior classes will follow the “games” approach to learning tennis. Classes will be half-traditional stroke work and half-focused on rallying skills. To teach rallying, the class will use bigger balls, fewer court lines, and multiple ball bounces to help kids play “real tennis” before they acquire all the racquet skills needed to play sets. Players will learn ball striking skills, scoring, rallying skills, and basic strategy—all in a fun, stimulating environment. Rainout and make-up classes will be scheduled as needed. There is no make-up for classes missed by the participant. In case of inclement weather conditions, arrangements will be made. Please call the City of Mason hotline at 513.229.8502 and select option 5 to hear program cancellations or delays due to weather.
