FALL BROOK FALLS

Fall Brook Falls is 108 feet high and is the highest falls in New Brunswick. Pick up a map at the Central New Brunswick Woodmen’s Museum Visitor Information Centre in Boiestown. The view is spectacular, the swimming hole is second to none, and the family time even more valuable. There is a $10 fee from JDI per vehicle entering the falls’ location.

MIRAMICHI DRAGWAY INC.

Miramichi Dragway Inc. is a 0.4km drag strip. It has the best traction in Eastern Canada, starting with its 36.6 metre concrete launch pads, to a well-maintained asphalt track surface of 402.3 metres, and 670.6 metres of shutdown area.

MIRAMICHI SALMON CONSERVATION CENTRE

MIRAMICHI SALMON CONSERVATION CENTRE

The Miramichi Salmon Conservation Centre is a major center for Atlantic Salmon research. This oldest continually operating Atlantic Salmon Hatchery has operated continuously since 1873 and is an educational must see.

CANADA’S LARGEST SALMON FLY

The Village of Blackville is home to Canada’s largest Salmon Fly; the Veteran’s Fly is located at the corner of Main Street and South Bartholomew Road. Each color has a symbolic meaning to veterans. The Fly is a popular roadside attraction and charms curious tourists and locals alike throughout the year.

PRICEVILLE FOOTBRIDGE

The Priceville Footbridge is one of the great wonders of the Miramichi. Allow yourself to travel back in time on this suspension footbridge, which spans the mystical waters of the Miramichi River, joining the communities of Priceville and McNamee. Restored in 2019 and 2020 by the Province of New Brunswick, the grounds now have additional parking.

NELSON HOLLOW BRIDGE

The Nelson Hollow Bridge is believed to be the oldest covered bridge in New Brunswick and is the only remaining covered bridge still standing in Northumberland County. It is located between Boiestown and Doaktown, over a small brook named Mill Brook. It is 24.5 metres long and spans Betts Mill Brook, about 4 km west of Doaktown.

Trails

FRENCH FORT COVE TRAIL

Meander a 4-km trail beginning on the corner of Cove Road and King George Hwy, circling the historic French Fort Cove.

BEAUBEARS ISLAND TRAIL

Approximately 3.2-kms of historic trails along the Island’s perimeter have been restored for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The trails meet the central island trail opposite Wilson’s Point.

STRAWBERRY MARSH TRAIL

This trail runs along the Miramichi River through marshland abundant with waterfowl in a rolling sea of marsh grass. View Beaubears Island and its stately pine trees just offshore and be on the lookout for bald eagles. This 2-km cleared trail with a crushed rock surface begins on King George Highway beside Towne Mazda.

MILLBANK TRAIL

Curve your way through several nature trails and picnic areas uniquely carved through a mixed forest, with numerous springs and a babbling brook. Located off McHardy Road or off King George Highway.

LOGGIEVILLE TO CHATHAM TRAIL

The scenic Miramichi River can be seen from numerous points along the trail, as well as a wide variety of wildlife and wildflowers. This 8-km crushed gravel trail, built along an abandoned railway, has two different entry points. This trail is a must-see in the fall when it is lined with trees in a spectacular array of colours. You can enter the trail at the corner of Wellington and Water street or Manse street.

BI-CENTENNIAL PARK

BI-CENTENNIAL PARK

Situated on the banks of the world renown Miramichi River, this park offers a picturesque view of the river and Beaubears Island National Historic Site. There are picnic tables, benches, a boat ramp, and docks available.

Located at 35 St. Patrick’s Drive, Miramichi NB.

ELM PARK

Take a stroll through this delightful park with beautifully landscaped green areas, vibrant flower beds, and historic monuments.

Located at Henderson Street at Wellington and Duke Street.

ENGLAND’S HOLLOW

Charming picnic country with walking paths along a small brook. During the winter, spend a day with family and friends sliding down the hills of the hollow.

Located on Lower Water Street.

HOWARD ST. PARK

Open to BMX, scooters, in-line, and skateboard users. Properly fastened helmets are mandatory, and elbow and knee pads are strongly recommended.

QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK

Known to locals as “The Town Square”, the site was originally where the first courthouse and jail in the county were. It is now home to many of Miramichi’s historical monuments, like Father of Confederation, Peter Mitchell; the founder of the Miramichi Historical Society, originator of the Miramichi Folksong Festival and Historian; Dr. Louise Manny; and a cenotaph remembering local people who died in battle, a sandstone fountain and a bust of Lord Beaverbrook, which encases his ashes. Located at Henry, Jail, and Ellen Streets, and Newcastle Boulevard.

UPPER MIRAMICHI RURAL COMMUNITY PARK

The Upper Miramichi Community Park is approximately 48 acres of forested land operated by the Rural Community of Upper Miramichi. It is operational yearround, and it features walking trails, playground area, skating dome, picnic sites, horseshoes, and washer toss games. The Park features a basketball/ hockey/ tennis court, and a splash pad for the kiddies to cool off during the summer.

DOAKTOWN COMMUNITY PARK

This green space offers a link to the walking trails with a view of the picturesque Miramichi River. It also has a chatting corner to mingle with friends and a splash pad for the kids. There is often local talent jamming on the stage or in the gazebo.

BLACKVILLE MUNICIPAL PARK

The Blackville Municipal Park offers walking trails, a playground, picnic area, boat launch, pavilion, and an observation deck. The Park is home to a statue of a local folklore legend called the “Dungarvon Whooper”, which is the most famous ghost story in New Brunswick.
