DETECTION OF FIRE REPORT OF FIRE DISPATCH RESPONSE TO FIRE SETUP FIGHTING FIRE
Did you know that a home fire can become deadly in just two minutes? Unlike 30 or 40 years ago, our homes today are filled with furniture and belongings made of synthetics and plastics. These materials can produce deadly smoke and cause home fires to burn faster than ever before. Every second counts when it comes to home fire safety, so here are a few facts about home fire sprinklers. • Home fire sprinklers can extinguish a fire in less than 1 ½ minutes.
• Home fire sprinklers do not all activate at once. They operate independently and only if the temperature around them reaches between 135°-165° F.
• Over 90% of fires in homes that have sprinklers are controlled or extinguished with only one sprinkler. • Fire sprinklers use much less pressure and about 1/10th the amount of water that a fire hose sprays. Home fire sprinklers control a fire while it’s still small, limiting damage. • Home fire sprinklers can be added in new construction for as little as $1.35 per square foot and can also be retrofitted for existing homes.
