The Penticton Community Centre welcomes people of all ability levels to participate at our facility We strive to ensure everyone has access to recreation opportunities regardless of disability, race, gender, religion or income We also understand that disabilities include wide ranges of abilities and impairments from mobility and agilityrelated disabilities to sensory impairment and intellectual disabilities

The City of Penticton has taken steps toward making its pools accessible to people of differing abilities Below is a list of features the Community Centre offers for accessibility in the pools:

• A family change area with two accessible change rooms including ceiling lifts and change beds

• Ceiling lifts with a weight capacity of 440lbs/200kg; clients need to provide their own slings

• The primary accessible change room has a lift bed with a weight capacity of 250lbs/115kgs

• The secondary accessible change room has a fixed bed with a weight capacity of 290lbs/135kg • Three standard wheel chairs 20” wide and 22” with a weight capacity of 350lbs/158kgs

• One heavy duty chair 28” wide with a weight capacity of 500lbs/226kg

• Two sling back chairs that partially recline with a weight capacity of 180lbs/81kg

• All pools are ramped for easy access

Friends in Motion

All ages This session is created for children, youth and young adults who need extra assistance participating in activities Participants will develop motor skills on a variety of gym equipment and through other activities Parent or Teaching Assistant participation required

Fitness Room

The Fitness Room includes circuit, cable and cardio equipment, identified with special wheelchair symbols, that may be suitable for persons with disabilities Patrons who have difficulty with stairs may enter through the automatic doors via the second floor and elevator
