SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS: • Existing signalized intersections will be modified to add red/amber/green cyclist signal heads facing both north and south directions to guide cyclists crossing movements. • Leading Pedestrian/Cyclist Interval: Vehicle traffic movements will be delayed to allow for the prioritization of the pedestrian and cyclist movements.


UNSIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS: • Unsignalized intersections will be improved with some curbing changes and line markings to reduce the cyclist and pedestrian exposure and improve visibility. • In addition the crosswalks at Lakeshore Drive and Martin Street (at the library) will be raised and will incorporate Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon lights activated by cyclists/pedestrians.

Financial The preliminary estimated cost for sections 3 and 4, when the overall route selection was endorsed, was $2.26M. The updated cost for these two sections based on the most recent detailed design is consistent with this amount. Section 3 & 4 Cost Estimate: $2.26M  $1.0M – Grant  $1.26M – General Capital


Next Steps  Tender: Early to Mid April  Construction commencement: Early May  Construction Timelines

 The majority of the work in the downtown core, Lakeshore to Wade, will be completed before the end of June.  The remainder of the works wrapping up through the summer.
