DiSC is a personal assessment tool to help understand and improve teamwork, communication, and productivity in the workplace Many teams across the City have completed the DiSC assessment and workshop to learn more about how they tick. Our goal is to eventually have all departments, divisions, and teams participate.

If this sounds like an opportunity your team would be interested in, please reach out to Callie Smith (callie smith@)

“I cannot more highly recommend this program as a team-building exercise First of all, it's a lot of fun. Second, it is incredibly helpful for everyone on a team to learn about the different working personality styles. This program helped us in Planning & Development better appreciate what each team member brings to the table and it enabled us to see how much individual communication preferences matter to the overall strength of the team

“The DISC profiles helped our team members to determine which traits are most prominent in their personalities Since learning this information, we can use it to better understand our environmental reactions and our individual work styles. ”

“I believe that our DISC workshop was wildly successful for a multitude of reasons. First, it allowed us as individuals to see where we are on the DISC spectrum and just what does that mean Then, it showed us how others see us and how we sometimes see them. As a group it allowed us to see where we all fell as leaders within the Department and why some of the decisions and thought processes have gone the way that they have gone. Lastly, I believe that this was the first of hopefully many fun-filled and informative teambuilding events to come ”

HR & Me is a series of classes covering a variety of HR topics that rotate based on the time of year and the needs of employees Topics include the annual Performance Appraisals Workshops and Open Enrollment Workshops.

HR is excited to bring a new series of training to the City, under the HR & Me umbrella:

s p e c t & responsibility

There are two versions of this training: one geared toward supervisors and one geared toward employees. All City employees are required to complete the appropriate session.

In the training, we explore what it takes to foster a healthy and resilient work environment City employees are encouraged to use this training as a way to reflect on their own teams and how they show up within their teams. There is a component that explores humor in the workplace and why it’s encouraged if done right. Also covered are relevant policies, laws, and the role each of us play in creating and maintaining a healthy team

IGNITE IGNITE

CityofRockHill,SC

The IGNITE program is designed for employees at all levels, not just those in supervisory roles The purpose is to train City of Rock Hill employees to become process improvement leaders With roots in Lean Six Sigma concepts, process improvement is a systematic approach focused on the identification and elimination of waste within a process in order to enhance efficiency. IGNITE is offered twice a year: once in the fall and once in the spring. There are 10-14 training opportunities in each half of the year, though 10 specific trainings must be completed in order to earn the IGNITE certificate

If you aren’t sure of what to expect, sign up for a class that piques your interest. However, to earn the IGNITE certificate, you must complete all 10 of the required classes (not necessarily in the same cycle or order), develop an innovation project, and present your innovation project to City Management during a graduation ceremony Please direct questions to the IGNITE Team (IGNITE@cityofrockhill com)

Introduction to IGNITE (required for certificate): overview of the IGNITE program, continuous improvement, and LEAN Six Sigma methodology

Change Management (required for certificate): how to plan and implement new ways of operating within an organization

Voice of the Customer (required for certificate): how to capture and understand the needs, expectations, and feedback of customers to drive process improvement and deliver better products and services

Data-Informed Decision Making (required for certificate): varying types of metrics and how to make decisions based on data and evidence
