Stoughton Driver Escort Program You’ve may have seen ads in this newsletter for the RSVP Driver transportation program, but if someday you need to use it, do you know how it works? Here are answers to common questions. What is it? RSVP Driver Escort Program is a partnership between the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Dane County and the Stoughton Area Senior Center. It provides rides to medical/medically-related appointments for seniors, 60 and older, who meet eligibility requirements. How do I request a ride? If you’re someone who needs a ride, then you (or a family member or friend) call Ride Coordinator Richard Hoffman directly at 873-6112 or email him at rwhoffman64@yahoo.com giving him a minimum of three business days advance notice. If you call and no-one answers, please wait for the "beep" and then leave a message with your name, appointment info including the date, time and address. Richard will respond as soon as he can or if he is able to contact an available driver right away, the driver will call you to confirm your appointment. If you are not contacted by Richard or a driver after 24 hours, please call back. What can I expect from the driver? Volunteer drivers pick you up at your front door, accompany you to your appointment, and then take you back to your front door when your appointment is done. Rides are provided on a donation-only basis. How can I help? The Senior Center is always in need of Volunteer Drivers. If you are looking for a very rewarding, flexible volunteer opportunity, please call Charlene at 873-8585. You can also learn more by coming to this month’s Coffee with the Mayor on Friday October 12, at 9:30AM to learn more from RSVP staff Debbie Bormann and Mary Schmelzer.

Sheet Pan Dinners Class with Kim Tuesday, October 9, 1:30 PM Sheet pan dinners are all the rage and with good reason; because they generally only require one sheet pan (and maybe a cutting board, knife, and a spatula), and they leave you with that one sheet pan to clean and not much else. Sheet pan dinners also make it easy to cook for 1 or more. Not to mention, sheet pan dinners are inherently pretty healthy, because they are always some kind of combination of proteins and vegetables. And, of course, they require hardly any work on your end—just throw your ingredients together on a pan, and let them cook in the oven until they are ready. Join us and learn how to make four different meals: a garlicky chicken, sheet pan chicken with sweet potatoes and apples, baked fish and pork sheet pan dinners. The cost is $7.00 per person. Space is limited sign up today and come hungry!
