44th Annual Suffolk Peanut Festival

Storytime at the Station

Suffolk Tourism, in partnership with the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, wants to give you the fright of your life as they present a series of classic horror films. Shows begin at 8:00 PM, and admission is $3 per person. No children under 17 will be permitted without a parent or guardian. Date: Friday, October 21 In 1980, a descendant of the original owners reopens Camp Crystal Lake after murders in 1957 and 1958...but the killings start up again as a mysterious stalker prowls the area. Could it be the original victim, Jason, out for revenge? The cast includes Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, and Kevin Bacon. This 1980 film is rated R and has a running time of 95 minutes.

The Ring

Date: Friday, October 28 Journalist Rachel Keller investigates a videotape that may have killed four teenagers. She discovers the urban legend about the tape: the viewer will die seven days after watching it. Rachel will have to run against time to save her son’s and her own life. The cast includes Naomi Watts, David Dorfman, and Brian Cox. This 2002 film is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 115 minutes.

Plein Air Invitational

Date: September 6-11 Time: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Ages: All Cost: Free Location: Suffolk Center For three days, talented artists from all over the area will be inspired to paint Suffolk’s Historic Downtown, beautiful farmland, and pristine waterfront. Kyiv City Ballet’s “A Tribute to Peace:” Ukranian Repertoire

Kyiv City Ballet’s Swan Lake

Date: Thursday, September 22 Time: 7:00 PM Ages: All Cost: $25 - $75 Adults Location: Suffolk Center See the Kyiv City Ballet perform their full-length performance of “Swan Lake,” choreographed by Marius Petipa, Lev Ivanov, and Ivan Kozlov. The company’s star ballerinas, Krystina Kadashevych and Oksana Bondarenko, will be featured, as will Vsevolod Maevskiy, a former soloist at the Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg, now a principal with the troupe.

“A Tribute To Peace” Exhibition

The Hurrah Players Present Disney’s The Lion King

Date: Saturday, October 15 Time: 2:00 PM Ages: All Cost: $22-$25 Location: Suffolk Center Disney’s The Lion King is a live musical adaptation of the 1994 animated film, bringing the wonderful music and adventures of the Pride Lands to life onstage. The Hurrah Players, Virginia’s leading family theatre company, presents The Lion King under the direction of Hugh R. Copeland, the founder and artistic director of The Hurrah Players.

The Chris Michael Experience

He is currently the performer of choice for the Washington Commanders, U.S. Army, and even the FBI.

“Takin’ Care of Business” Exhibition

This exhibit honors business leaders in the City of Suffolk past and present, allowing guests to see who these courageous people are and what they bring to our community daily. Red, White & Brews

Tidewater Winds “Santa Swings”

Suffolk Farmers’ Market

Free and open to the public, the 2022 Suffolk Farmers’ Market Season will conclude on Saturday, November 19. Regular market hours are every Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, weather permitting. The Market has been a popular outlet for locally grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, organically raised poultry, fresh eggs and milk, honey, and a variety of artisancrafted goods.
