Philippine Independence Day Vallejo is home to one of the oldest and most vibrant Filipino communities in the United States. Each year the Vallejo Philippine Cultural Committee (PCC), a program under the umbrella of the Filipino Community of Solano County, Inc., organizes and plans events for the entire month of June in commemoration of Philippine Independence Day, on June 12. For 2022, PCC has expanded its offerings of activities and events from pop-up markets to a skateboard competition and of course their annual Pista sa Nayon festival! The kickoff event for Philippine Cultural Month will take place on: Saturday, June 4, from 12 - 6 pm @ Suite Treatments, 3729 Sonoma Boulevard The event will feature vendors, food, music, live DJs, and Filipino Martial Arts. Admission is
free. The organizer of the event, Justin Calonia, owner of Insynapse Entertainment, was born and raised in Vallejo, and is excited to be included in this year’s festivities. “June 4th is an event that showcases Filipino excellence through local, small businesses and live performances. Thus the name, Makers and Music,” said Calonia. Makers and Music grew out of the dream of having a space where small businesses are highlighted, and musicians/live performers have a stage to share their love and their passions in front of an audience of supporters. Some of the performers include: Celi, Devarock, The City Bounce (Jaynatz & Party Ardi), DJ Jasonn, Curfu, Island Warriors Martial Arts, and many more. There will also be an outdoor shaded food lounge. For more information about all the Philippine Cultural Month events, please visit vallejopistasanayon.com.
