Converter Thief Arrested Thanks to concerned citizen

On April 20, 2023, the Vallejo Police Department received a report of a man stealing a catalytic converter from a 2008 black Mercedes Benz 350 on the 1100 block of Monterey St.

The witness showed our officers highdefinition surveillance footage of the thief under the vehicle. Then the man stood up with a catalytic converter and a sawzall in his hands.

Our officers conducted an area check for the male thief and located him near Monterey St.

and Louisiana St. and detained him. The thief was still in possession of the sawzall and the catalytic converter.

The thief admitted after being Mirandized to stealing the catalytic converter. The thief was arrested and the catalytic converter and sawzall were collected for evidence.

Our officers attempted to contact the victim, who owned the Mercedes Benz. If anyone knows the victim in this case, please have that person contact the Vallejo Police Department regarding case number 23-3802.
