since the turn of the 20th century. Organized in 1900, Vallejo Yacht Club is one of only seven Yacht Clubs on the West Coast that have reached their Centennial. The Vallejo Yacht Club, formed as the Vallejo Yachting and Rowing Club on April 27th, 1900, is the fifth oldest club on San Francisco Bay. Located at the “sunny” northern end, just minutes away from San Pablo Bay, the Sacramento Delta, and Napa Valley wineries, VYC enjoys a proud heritage and active membership.

The VYC is currently accepting membership applications. For more information, please stop in at the club during service hours or contact the Yacht Club Manager.

Bay Area’s 3rd Annual Goth Day Festival Comes to Vallejo

May 6, 2023

The Menagerie Oddities Market presents the San Francisco Bay Area's 3rd Annual World Goth Day Festival 5/6/23 11-8pm at the historic Empress Theatre in Vallejo. There will 3 areas of activation for the festival: the dark art & oddities market along Virginia Street, the Empress Lounge, and the Empress Theatre, all of which will be supported by roaming entertainers, a second outdoor stage, food trucks and no-host bars. This is the only Event of its kind in the state, produced by Bay Area artists, and attracts nearly 2,000 members of the Goth community from all over the West Coast.

The goth subculture is one of the most creative around, so take the day to see or create

something new; whether it's a piece of gothic jewelry or clothing, a work of art or even some new music! Get inspired and allow your creative juices to flow black, purple and red!

On a side note......Vallejo’s favorite “Steampunk” scene is a sub-genre of Goth. Imagine a society with highly developed technology that evolved slightly different to how society did. A society that kept steam and the the pride of creating beautiful, well-made, long-lasting things that were used in everyday life from machines to fashion. People of this society enjoy their technology and take great pride in everything that they make. Imagine a world without plastic and with people who enjoy learning and creating!

May is Asian / Pacific American Heritage Month

A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).

The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.

Join us in paying tribute to the many generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history (and Vallejo's!) and are instrumental in our future success.
