CELEBRATE PARK AND RECREATION MONTH THIS JULY
July is Park and Recreation Month across the country and there’s no better time to take advantage of Westerville’s parks, trails and facilities. The City of Westerville features more than 650 acres of parkland, 18,000 trees, 51 miles of trails and four premier facilities to enjoy not only in July, but throughout the year.
More than one million people of all ages and abilities use the award-winning parks and recreation system for biking, jogging, walking, family gatherings, playground adventures, classes, attending one of the many events held year-round or just enjoying the fresh air. The Department is a five-time recipient of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management and also has been nationally accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) since 2005.
NRPA designates each July to highlight the many stories of how communities like Westerville are stronger, more vibrant and more resilient because of parks and recreation. The theme for NRPA’s 2021 Park and Recreation Month is “Our Park and Recreation Story,” so be sure to share your park and recreation stories on social media using #Westerville and #OurParkAndRecStory. Visit www.westerville.org/parks for a full list of parks and facilities to enjoy.
