Adam McDowell Named Westerville Water Utility Manager

Adam McDowell has been named the Water Utility Manager for the City of Westerville. McDowell previously worked for the City of Defiance, Ohio, for nearly 33 years, and served as Superintendent for the last 13 years. He holds an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Class 4 Water Operators License and an Ohio EPA Class 1 Wastewater Operators License. McDowell specializes in source water protection efforts, plant upgrades and project management.

“It is an honor to join Westerville’s highly esteemed Division of Water,” said McDowell. “My goal is to utilize my experience and technical skills in water utility operations to serve Westerville residents by providing reliable services that meet and exceed the standards they are accustomed to.”

McDowell began his role with the City in March 2024 and will build upon the Division’s exceptional reputation as the community continues to develop and expand.

“The need for high-quality water, and efficient operations and management will become increasingly important as the Westerville community continues to develop and expand,” said Westerville Assistant City Manager Jason Bechtold. “We are fortunate to have identified McDowell as the leader who will build upon the dependable services and standards set forth by his predecessors and will continue to guide the delivery of outstanding water service for Westerville residents, schools and businesses.”
