Star Wars Droid Checkpoint

May the 4th Be With You

Get your Landspeeder (car, truck or van) ready for the fourth-annual Star Wars Droid Checkpoint, the drive-thru event that mimics the famous “Droid Check-Point” scene from the original science-fiction movie. The “checkpoint” begins Thursday, May 4 (of course) from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Highlands Park (245 S. Spring).

Started by Westerville Parks & Recreation as a limitedphysical-exposure family opportunity during COVID, the event has been so successful it was added as an annual tradition. Staff and volunteers dress as Empire Storm Troopers and other characters and “check” cars for illegal droids. Each vehicle is stopped and occupants are “required” to answer a series of questions.

As part of the fun, it is also an opportunity for the community to donate food and supplies to the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM). To date, more than 3,125 lbs of food and over $300 in cash donations have been accepted for WARM.
