In the magazine world we are always talking about the forthcoming season and it can be difﬁcult to imagine warmer days and pretty spring blossoms when you are actually in the middle of the bleakest month of the year January. Thankfully bridal designers have a permanently happy disposition, as I am sure will agree when you feast your eyes on the new collections for the coming year.

If I had to describe the coming season in just one word then it would be romance. Think corsets, soft layers, rufﬂes and lace. Victorian ﬂair oozes from many collections. Colour is also a key ingredient as gold, taupe and grey make a welcome appearance and demure silhouettes become more apparent. With so much on offer for every bride to be, we have put together our top 20 favourites for inspirations and ideas. Hit the nail on the head! A brides hands will be on display both during the ceremony and afterwards. No bride wants to be embarrassed at the condition of her nails and hands as people admire her wedding band. There are a number of ways nowadays that your hands and nails can look immaculate and yet stylish on your special day. A woman may be lucky enough to have naturally beautiful nails, which means a simple manicure and polish will be sufﬁcient to bring your nails to their natural glory. However, not all of us are that lucky and may need a little extra help to look our gorgeous best. Alternatively, many brides may prefer to have a nail treatment which means that they need not worry about nails breaking or polish chipping. Tru Gel, Shellac, Gellish are three most well-known brands of UV 3 nail polish. This is UV set nail polish which doesn’t need drying time as it dries under LED or UV light, is non-chip and should last up to 2 weeks. It is very easily removed. Nail wraps can offer you a fantastic and instant look without the worry of any chipping or smudging like the traditional nail polishes or manicures. This treatment can be applied a few days before the wedding, allowing you to concentrate on ﬁ nalizing any issues that crop up before the big day. Nail wraps normally last about 7 days but will require some care. (They will last a lot longer on the toes). There are many designs to choose from, although as the bride, you may wish to go subtle and understated, perhaps with a little bit of sparkle, leaving the wedding band to take centre stage. Leave the leopard print design to the mother of the bride!

Another option, is to have your own design in acrylic painted on your nails, sealed with a glossy top coat. The choice is yours – perhaps yours and your partner’s initials? What a talking point for the close up shots of the photographs of the rings. If your nails are short, bitten or generally not nails you would want to show off on your big day, help is at hand through nail enhancements in the form of nail tips or sculpting. These can be acrylic, fabric (silk or fibreglass) or UV gel. One way is by having a UV gel applied to your nail. This gel is applied by a brush to the nail then cured under a UV Light. The nail is then fi led and buffed to shape when a fi nal layer of gel is applied thinly to seal the product and provide a long lasting, nonchip shine. Average refi ll is 2-3 weeks, although some may fi nd that their nails last much longer. If removal is required, the gel is easily removed or grown out. Or you can have acrylic nails applied. An Acrylic is the combination of powder and liquid applied to the nail, then left to harden in its own time, which is fi led and buffed to shape. Just like gel, acrylic nails can be a fantastic way to have a French polish look which does not chip and the effects will last an average of 2-3 weeks before requiring infi ll. Face Makeup You don’t want to look like a clown on your wedding day: These tips will help you put your best face forward. 1. Experiment with a good makeup line. A test run of make up will ensure it’s right for your skin type and that it doesn’t cause your face to break out. 2. Moisture ﬁrst, application second. Apply a moisturizer before putting on make up. Find a good cream foundation that covers beautifully and smooths ﬂaws in your skin. 3. Conceal dark circles. A concealer for dark circles under the eyes will help you look rested. 4. An unusual Setting

When selecting your engagement ring the stone is always a main factor, but there is another aspect that can individualise this important item of jewellery and that is the stone setting. Here are some of them.

Channel Setting A channel setting is a ring style where the stones are set into the band itself, usually in a continuous line. These settings are very popular for anniversary bands and men’s wedding bands, but would make a unique choice for an engagement ring as well. While many engagement rings include accent stones in a channel setting, a ring that uses solely this type of recessed setting would be quite unusual.

Prong setting The prong setting, sometimes called a claw setting, is the most commonly used gemstone setting and is especially popular for engagement rings. The diamond or diamonds are held securely in place by either two (shared prong), four, or six metal prongs. The diamond sits high off of the ﬁnger and therefore shows off the diamond best. It allows the maximum amount of light to reach the diamond, ensuring maximum amount of sparkle.

Cluster setting The cluster setting usually consists of one large stone (usually round or oval) in the centre surrounded with several smaller stones in a figural design such as a flower or butterfly. It is designed to create a beautiful larger ring from many smaller stones.

Bezel Setting Bezel settings hold stones in place by using a metal ring instead of prongs. The metal ring completely encircles the stone and embeds it into the setting. A bezel set engagement ring is perfect for the woman who leads an active lifestyle or never removes her ring. The stone is more secure and the ring less likely to be damaged.

Pave Setting Pave setting engagement rings feature diamonds or other stones encrusted into the band, making the entire ring appear to be made from precious stones. These exquisite settings can be quite expensive, however, and to avoid a higher price couples can consider using semiprecious stones to pave the ring.

Tension setting As a newly popular choice for engagement rings, the tension setting gives the gemstone is compressed between the metal band to keep it ﬁrmly in place. Another important element to consider is the style of photography. The once popular heavily styled and processed photography is beginning to give way to a more relaxed look that’s both honest and fun. This helps enrich your wedding album with the true emotion and narrative of your unique day. Jake Morley of Jake Morley Photography insists that there has been an increased interest in this relaxed, natural style of photography: “A lot of people are opting for laid back shots that steer away from forced poses. This lends an editorial feel to the photos, that, with the addition of wild flowers and natural settings adds an enchanting, vintage edge to wedding photos.” The digital revolution is also an important factor to consider when it comes to your wedding snaps. John and Gail of Photo Evolution point out that this movement is constantly pushing and blurring the boundaries of visual media: “The latest cameras are able to capture both video and stills. The most important change for us has probably been the ability of cameras to work in extremely low light without resorting to using flashguns.
