The Women of Inspiration Summit & Expo (WISE) 2020, proudly hosted for its second year by the Columbus Young Professionals (CYP) Club, will welcome a diverse group of women for an uplifting and inspirational virtual experience to connect and grow while hearing from outstanding speakers and thought-leaders. CONGRESSWOMAN JOYCE BEATTY Congresswoman Joyce Beatty is a native Ohioan with a strong history of connecting people, policy and politics to make a difference. Since 2013, Beatty has proudly represented Ohio’s Third Congressional District. She sits on the exclusive House Committee on Financial Services and serves on WOMAN OF INSPIRATION three Subcommittees: Chair of Diversity and Inclusion, Housing, Community Development HONOREE 2020 and Insurance, and Oversight and Investigations. The Financial Services Committee oversees the entire financial services industry, including the nation’s banking, securities, insurance, and housingindustries, as well as the work of the Federal Reserve, the United States Department of the Treasury and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. As Chair of the newly created Financial Services Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion, Beatty will lead efforts to ensure the financial services industry works better for all Americans. Prior to her service in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congresswoman Beatty was Senior Vice President of Outreach and Engagement at The Ohio State University and a member in the Ohio House of Representatives for five terms. During her tenure in the Ohio House, she rose to become the first female Democratic House Leader in Ohio’s history and was instrumental in spearheading and enacting pieces of legislation to require financial literacy in Ohio’s public school curriculum, to expand STEM education, and to secure funds to help under- and uninsured women access breast and cervical cancer treatment. Congresswoman Beatty has dedicated her life to helping make an impact by delivering results and through service to Central Ohio. CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE Central Ohio’s transportation network and make it safer, easier to use, and more reliable; more than $3 million in federal funds to help Central Ohio youth at-risk of homelessness; $4 million in federal funds to address Columbus’ infant mortality rate—one of the highest in the nation—and another $45 million to ensure more Ohio students can succeed in and outside the classroom. In Congress, Beatty has had numerous pieces of legislation signed into law, including two measures to combat human trafficking, and another to empower college students to make more informed financial decisions. She also spearheaded legislation officially designating the National Veterans Memorial and Museum located in downtown Columbus, Ohio, as well as a bill to make the tax deduction permanent for out-of-pocket expenses paid by elementary and secondary teachers for supplies and expenses. Finally, her advocacy proved critical in enacting a law to help more stroke victims gain access to fast, high-quality care. Congresswoman Beatty is Vice-Chair of the powerful Congressional Black Caucus, Regional Whip for Region 10, and is an influential member of the Democratic Seniors Task Force, Co-Chair of the Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus and Congressional Heart and Stroke Coalition, Deputy Vice-Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, and founder of the Congressional Civility and Respect Caucus. Outside of her committee and numerous caucus memberships, Beatty is a committed and vocal supporter of early education, women’s equality, concussion awareness, and the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI), which seeks to increase the participation of women and minorities in all facets of the financial marketplace, among many other priorities. A sought-after public speaker and the recipient of numerous awards, she was previously named one of Ebony Magazine’s 150 most powerful AfricanAmericans in the United States. Congresswoman Beatty is active in The Links, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Columbus Urban League, The American Heart Association—where she previously served on the board—and numerous other organizations. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Central State University, her Master of Science from Wright State University, and completed all requirements but her dissertation for a doctorate at the University of Cincinnati. Congresswoman Beatty has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees from Ohio Dominican University and Central State University, as well as a juris doctor from Capital University Law School. TRUDY BARTLEY Trudy Bartley currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Local Government and Community Relations at The Ohio State University. In this role, she provides leadership and representation for the university's relationships with local government officials and WOMAN OF INSPIRATION staff, as well as economic and community development projects. She establishes HONOREE 2020 relationships with community leaders; participates in community organizations/activities to foster community and university partnerships; monitors, researches and/or analyzes local government legislative and regulatory issues; and actively focuses on strategic university engagement and enhanced goodwill toward the university. Trudy represents the University on supporting the OSU work on boards, committees and ad hoc groups. She supports the coordination of University priorities in relation to PACT’s Blueprint for Community Investment on the Near East Side and Campus Partners priorities in the University and Weinland Park geographies inclusive of assisting the University and municipal leadership on the development of projects. As the former Executive Director of Partners Achieving Community Transformation (PACT), an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to the comprehensive redevelopment of the Near East Side neighborhood of Columbus, Trudy was responsible for spearheading the strategic implementation of the Blueprint for Community Investment, a detailed master plan focused on revitalizing the Near East Side. Distinguished by its bottom-up approach to revitalizing a historic neighborhood, PACT is creating tangible and lasting results that will benefit current and future generations. CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE Prior to coming to the Ohio State University Trudy worked in the Ohio Department of Development, where she served as the Chief Operating Officer and she also held the positions of Interim Director of the Minority Business Enterprise Division and Federal Stimulus Coordinator. Prior to her tenure with the Ohio Department of Development, she served as President of Diversified Development Group, a minority real estate development company. She managed operations and focused on the development needs of Central Ohio and other regional markets. Trudy previously served in the City of Columbus, Department of Development for more than 11 years. As Deputy Director for the Department she was responsible for the day to day operations, as well as assisting the Director as a spokesperson in a wide range of economic and community development activities and initiatives. Trudy currently serves on the Board of Trustees for The United Way of Central Ohio, Central Ohio Transit Authority, ADAMH, KIPP Columbus, The Neighborhood Design Center, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Economic Development Institute (ECDI), The Matriots, and Gateway Film Center. In her past boards and commission service, she served as Chair of the New Albany Community Authority, The New Albany Planning Commission, WOSU, River South Community Authority, Columbus School for Girls, YWCA, COVA, the Community Shelter Board; Rebuilding Lives Funder Collaborative, and the YWCA, Racial Justice & Public Policy Committee. Trudy was born and raised in Columbus Ohio, a graduate of Columbus School for Girls and has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Wellesley College. She and her husband Dr. R. Earl Bartley have adult twin men and reside in Columbus Ohio.

SHANNON GINTHER Shannon Ginther, JD is an attorney and healthcare executive who is passionate about connecting individuals, families and communities, with a focus on improving lives. She currently serves as Senior Director of Community Health Partnerships for OhioHealth, a regional hospital system in Columbus, serving 46 of 88 Ohio counties. In this role, she leads OhioHealth’s clinical community outreach, focusing on delivering high WISDOM SPEAKER quality, culturally competent, community focused healthcare services and education to 2020 traditionally underserved populations. She also is committed to improving the economic position of women in Columbus, which she believes is directly and indirectly related to good health. With the support of Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther’s administration, Shannon launched and chairs the Columbus Women’s Commission, the first of its kind in Ohio, and one of only a few in the country. The Commission is focused on pay equity, housing, workforce development, and health. In 2017, the Commission launched its first major initiative--The Columbus Commitment: Achieving Pay Equity, a voluntary pay equity pledge for employers. Signed by 190 employers and growing, the goal of the Commitment is to close the gender-based wage gap in Columbus. Shannon’s other career highlights include her role as Executive Director of Healthcare Transformation at OhioHealth Group, focused on partnering with physicians to provide transformative, value-based healthcare for patients and families. Shannon graduated cum laude from Capital University Law School and holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati. As a bit of a self-proclaimed yogi, in her free time, she can be found teaching and taking yoga classes in the broader Columbus community. JULIE WILKES Born with a heart condition so severe, the doctor's pronounced her dead at birth, Julie Wilkes has overcome all of her life expectancy predictions and now dedicates her life to paying forward on the second chance at life by helping others to find light in their life. She is an entrepreneur, yoga/fitness studio concept owner, published author, INSPIRATION SPEAKER motivational speaker, certified life coach, aromatherapy line creator, and fitness/yoga 2020 presenter. Julie has spoken and presented across the globe, including at the Tower of London, the White House, the US Chamber of Commerce, TED Talks, Solutions at Work Live, Health 2.0, the National Business Group on Heath, International Women’s Day, and the US Department of Defense. In her talks, Julie uses a combination of research and story-telling to provide an entertaining and motivating talk that captures the audience from the start. Her content is feel-good and buzz-worthy you'll hear the audience talking about the information long after Julie is finished. In 2016, she was selected a one of “25 Remarkable Women” from Role Model Magazine and one of 12 ‘Women You Should Know’ in Central Ohio by the Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD) organization. Our lives have a combination of challenges and triumphs, not to punish or reward us, but to teach us about ourselves and to allow us to learn to become stronger, more resilient and find more joy. KAY WILSON Kay Wilson serves as the Director for Strategic Initiatives at IMPACT Community Action where she guides their community engagement and development efforts. She is an author of two books, youth advocate, and servant leader. Prior to overseeing a strategic merge SPIRITUALITY SPEAKER with IMPACT, Kay served as Executive Director for LeaderSpark; a thirty-two year old 2020 nonprofit which ignited youth in three core areas; leadership, workforce development and civic engagement. Kay serves to empower women, advocate for at-risk youth and uses her experiences to help them gain the necessary navigation skills and the foundation they need to break generational patterns and make it through tough situations. Kay graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, her Masters from the University of Enugu, Nigeria in Mass Communications and an MBA from Ohio Dominican. In 2007 she was recognized by Oprah Winfrey and in O Magazine as a Warrior Women, she was a 2016 Smart Business Smart Woman awardee, 2018 Columbus Africentric Sankofa Award winner, 2019 Femergy Change Agent awardee and TEDxColumbus speaker. Kay lives and laughs with her husband Karl and boys in Gahanna where she continues to empower women and youth with the courage, skills and strategies to build stronger relationships and enjoy greater success in their work and life.

RITA FULLER-YATES Rita Fuller-Yates is a Lifestyle Expert and Historian from Columbus, Ohio. She obtained her Bachelor degree in History from Ohio University and later her Masters degree from Savannah College of Art & Design. It has been her life long mission to help other improve their lives through social entertainment. EMPOWERMENT SPEAKER Having grown up on the near East side, and attending Columbus’ East High School, 2020 Rita found herself emerged in the rich history and culture of the community that surrounded her. Early on in her life she developed her love for family and tradition. This prompted her to start hosting workshops and classes to help others with the art of hosting and entertainment at home. She authored her first book “Life, Camera, Action - A guide to great hosting and entertainment” in 2016. In 2017, she accepted a position with the Columbus College of Art and Design as an Art History Professor and later that year became the resident Lifestyle Expert for WSYX 6, FOX 28, and WBNS10TV Columbus local news affiliates. In 2018, she made a shift to focus more of her attention on African American history within the various communities of Columbus. She hosts a weekly interactive TV show called “In da Streetz” and shares fun historical facts with her viewers. Her mission to share historical facts and interesting topics with the community, allows for her to engage firsthand with young people to make sure that they understand their history and to always stay mindful of Traditions and family values. KELLY ATKINSON As Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Kelly Atkinson works to develop programs, events, and initiatives to promote the platform of talent and culture. Kelly proves her passion for Columbus as a Certified Tourism Ambassador, leads a weekly church home group, and her favorite pastime is cheering on her four kids on whatever field they are playing on. LOURDES BARROSO DE PADILLA Lourdes Barroso de Padilla has an extensive background in youth development and leadership. She began her 24-year career with City Year, an education focused organization dedicated to helping students and schools succeed. Currently she serves as the Director for the Latina Mentoring Academy. She resides with her husband, Ernesto, and daughters, Eva and Valentina in Eastmoor.
CRYSTAL BOYCE Crystal L. Boyce began her journey into the world of dance at the age of 4. After graduating from the Fort Hayes School of Performing Arts, studying at OSU and embarking on her own careers in both the political and corporate worlds, Crystal opened Leap of Faith Dance and Apparel in 2004. In November of 2009 Leap of Faith Dancewear Boutique opened. Crystal has performed and created extensive works around the central Ohio area.

She is very active in the community and volunteers for several organizations, including the CYP Club, Columbus Inspires, WELD (Women for Economic & Leadership Development), & Ohio SHRM.
RENÉ DELANE René Delane is the CEO/Founder of Women Who Dare, an Inclusion Consultant, author, seasoned speaker and coach. She is committed to social justice by elevating the voices of women, people of color, immigrants, the abled differently, and people of all identities. Her vision is: “Everyone should be able to see someone who looks like them in Women Who Dare.” Her book Get Off Your Ask will be published in 2021.

Sherry Lloyd is an "off the beaten path guru and brand marketing lover." BILL NOLAN Bill Nolan serves as the managing partner of the Ohio office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, which he opened in 2009. As an advocate for inclusion and diversity, Bill is committed to finding new tools and partnerships so all individuals have opportunities to succeed. His current focuses include chairing the Columbus Bar Association Managing Partners’ Diversity Initiative and continuing to drive a series of gender equity discussion events in the Ohio legal community. He is a former mayor of the City of Powell.
JEN PIELA Jen Piela has worked in Wellness for over 20 years. As a Yoga and Meditation teacher, she combines her work as a Wellness Coach to focus on Stress Management with simple and accessible techniques and practices, specifically with women. She is the owner of Dalai Mama Yoga, based in Columbus.

TAMMY WHARTON Tammy Wharton is the President & Chief Executive Officer at Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland which serves more than 40,000 Girl Scout members. Her initial connection with the Girl Scouts began in 2001, when she led the organization's fund-raising and public relations efforts. Tammy's background also includes experience as a synchronized swimmer for the Ohio State University and the United States National Synchronized Swimming Teams. She lives in New Albany, Ohio with her husband and their two children.
HELEN YEE Helen is a Co-Founder and Co-Owner of the American Institute of Alternative Medicine (AIAM) where she is currently the CFO. Since 1994, AIAM has been an accredited institute for medical education, and offers programs in Acupuncture, Western Massage Therapy and Nursing. Helen has been studying martial arts since 1978. She also plays the bass with an eclectic musical group called Wednesday Wine and is a board member for Stonewall Columbus.

Kim Klenk started her career as a Marketing Analyst before joining the Quicken Loans Family of Companies. Most recently, Kim was part of the team that started Rocket Loans where she was the VP of Marketing and led the Business Intelligence team. Kim graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Wittenberg University and an Applied Statistics Certificate from Texas A&M. Kim is currently the Growth Marketing Director at Branch.
Katy Smith is the Editor of Columbus CEO magazine. She has interviewed hundreds of entrepreneurs and CEOs and has a deep knowledge of the Columbus business and nonprofit communities. Katy's mission is to inspire, entertain, educate, inform, empathize and make the world a better place for everyone.
