A NIGHT TO REMEMBER 2014
Written by Tim Crouch
Merrill Osmond and family invite you to join them and their special guests for
Who is the mysterious Kaspar? A scruffy, silent boy is found wandering the streets of the big city. The authorities, at a loss, send him to a sleepy small-town school to start a new life. Kaspar struggles to find his voice as deep seated prejudices are unearthed and tolerance pushed to its limits as school staff and pupils chatter noisily around him, unsure how to handle this delinquent disaster so rudely dropped into their midst. The City Varieties Youth Theatre Company presents an updated and extended version of this deeply moving, darkly comical ensemble tale, inspired by Kaspar Hauser.

THE HEARING FUND UK 3rd ANNUAL GALA EVENT NATIONAL YOUTH MUSIC THEATRE
BRASS
Book, Music & Lyrics by Benjamin Till Directed by Sara Kestelman
Book, Music and Lyrics by Piers Chater-Robinson Adapted from the play by J M Barrie An amateur production by arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD
Fresh from previous musical triumphs Return to the Forbidden Planet and Little Shop of Horrors, City Varieties Youth Theatre Company present Peter Pan, The Musical – their take on the classic tale of the boy who couldn’t bear to grow up. Set to music, with raw stage combat and beautiful choreography, you’ll find yourself swept away by the classic tale, finding some unique twists and turns along the way. Meet Shadow Wendy and Shadow Peter as they dance what cannot be uttered. Immerse yourself in the world of inept pirates, cheeky Lost Boys and fearsome Warriors. Prepare to be ‘Hooked’ from the start. This is Peter Pan as you will never have seen it.
To commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War NYMT has commissioned a new work from Benjamin Till. The story follows a group of Leeds residents from the start of the war until the battle of the Somme in 1916. The men, members of an amateur brass band, join up to the Leeds Pals regiment and their womenfolk decide to learn the instruments that the men have left behind to keep the spirit of the brass band alive and to play for them when they triumphantly return to the city after the war. We watch the women trying to learn the brass instruments whilst the men simply try to stay alive. It is an epic musical about love and survival.
“We hope you can join us and our friends from the entertainment world for our annual Gala Event. One of Britain’s most talented and best loved comedians, Billy Pearce will be joining us this year, along with X-Factor contestant Chico, Yorkshire swing singer Paul Stone and the Huddersfield born West End singer Roni Hart. They’re all excited to make this A Night To Remember – and even more very special guests are due to be announced shortly!” Please note this is a BLACK TIE event.
