The Larchmere district, a federally designated historic district, begins at East 120th Street and extends east to North Moreland Boulevard. About six miles from downtown Cleveland, you will find ten blocks of shops, galleries, antique stores, service enterprises, restaurants and public art such as colorful bike racks reminiscent of classic wooden chair styles (think Queen Anne, Shaker and Bentwood) and playful murals on the sides of otherwise ordinary brick buildings. This urban oasis is found along the boulevard known as Larchmere, home to 30 eclectic businesses and popular community events, making it one of the area’s most entertaining destinations.

The Dancing Sheep is a unique gallery featuring wearable art and special gifts, as well as an amazing selection of baby gifts, in a variety of price ranges. Find one-of-a-kind jackets, vests and tunics by fabric artists that are only available at a few boutiques in the United States. Owner Lynne Alfred and her staff are helpful and knowledgeable about the items they sell and the artists who create them. Plus, free gift-wrapping is available.

Also find Kapula Candles here, which are individually hand poured and hand painted by village artisans at the southern-most tip of Africa. The sale of each candle impacts the economy of an area where nearly 50% of the population is unemployed, and 90% of the workers making and painting the candles are single mothers supporting an extended family.

At American Crafts Gallery, located in the mezzanine of The Dancing Sheep, shoppers will find a charming and eclectic selection of hand-blown glass, handcrafted wood, metalworks and pottery in all price ranges. Niche Magazine named American Crafts one of its “Top 100 Galleries.”

Check out Loganberry Books, an independently owned and operated bookstore with a huge selection including a little bit of everything. Visitors will find leatherbound and decorative bindings, mostly from 1880-1920, though some are even older. High ceilings, natural light and warm rugs provide an air of comfort and coziness throughout this home to about 100,000 volumes. Extensive sections devoted to children’s literature and modern literature, art, design, the performing arts, the sciences, history and a wonderful array of knickknacks.

Larchmere Fire Works offers glassblowing and blacksmithing for beginners, as well as group classes, and a selection of pieces for sale. Learn these timeless artisan techniques and experience the joy of creating a piece of artwork with your own hands—and bring your friends and family along too!

You can find, or create, hand-blown glass art at Larchmere Fire Works.
