“Towards Innovative and Competitive Cities” September 6th and 7th, 2017 | Washington D.C.
SUMMARY The Forum “Towards Innovative and Competitive Cities” took place on September 6th and 7th of 2017 in Washington, D.C. This was the second Mayors Forum of its kind held at the IDB Headquarters, the first having been organized during the Cities Week in October of 2015. The event had the objective of creating a space for discussion on different ways of creating competitive cities starting from the redefinition and strengthening of local economic management and in its relationship with the private sector; in the promotion of non-traditional economic sectors, of hubs and processes of innovation and urban resilience and inclusion strategies. The Forum hosted over 40 cities from Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as several experts, who presented their analysis on new forms of management with best practice and success cases in order to explore these new approaches.
