Buffalo Center for Work Force Equity and Inclusion shall operate in partnership with the Haas Institute for a Fair and Equitable Society University of California, School of Law, Boalt Hall John A. Powell, Director With Goals to bring systemic changes to high economic impact institutions, government agencies, and organizations to increase employment opportunities for racial and ethnic minorities and women in the Buffalo metropolitan area


Work force Equity and Inclusion issues plague all of the leading institutions in Western New York-­‐-­‐-­‐from institutions of higher education, to public and private elementary and secondary schools, to the health care industry, to the building and constructions trades as well as local, county and state government agencies. A research and data driven initiative to create equal employment opportunities should be undertaken and employ best practices from around the country.

On August 18, 2011, President Obama issued Executive Order 13583-­‐-­‐Establishing a Coordinated Government-­‐wide Initiative to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Federal Workforce, which calls for all federal agencies to develop and implement a strategic plan for Diversity and Inclusion. In the Executive Order, the President emphasizes his commitment to promoting the Federal workplace as a model of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion. Specifically, he states “Our Nation derives strength from the diversity of its population and from its commitment to equal opportunity for all. We are at our best when we draw on the talents of all parts of our society, and our greatest accomplishments are achieved when diverse perspectives are brought to bear to overcome our greatest challenges.” Therefore, The Buffalo Center For Work Force Equity and Inclusion shall seek to comply with Executive Order 13583 in all efforts to bring great equity and inclusion to the work force in the Buffalo metropolitan area.
